I have two kids, hoh. I filled out a new w4, I put $4000 in the step 3. Well my employer entered that as 4000 exemptions- as in I have 4000 kids. So nothing has been taken out of my past 3 paychecks. They said I need to fill out a new w4. Idk how to not put what I put last time??? I need to make up for what I have missed too
I am very curious about this dependent part. I was told if we are filing jointly only one parent should claim the dependent is that true? I'm just curious both my wife and I claim 0, she claims the dependent and every time we do taxes we owe over a grand. I did the estimator twice and put all the information in and it said we shouldn't owe anything. Right now we are married filed jointly and don't do extra witholding. What am I doing wrong? Are we both supposed to Claim the child?
Hello.. I need help ..form w 4 I can I put child tax credit 0 I want to claim when I do My income tax also .. if I have small self painting 🖼 company and 2 other jobs .. what should I write.. on w4 ..?? Please can u help me ..Thank u
US TAX: my baby was born in 2020. I applied for my wife's ITIN and filed tax returns for year 2021 together in 2022. I got my wife's ITIN somewhere in mid 2022. In my 2021's tax returns, I claimed 2000 child tax credit. IRS rejected this saying your wife did not have ITIN at the time of filing? I replied to IRS with my wife's ITIN number because I received it in mid 2022 after filing tax return for 2021. But IRS is still not refunding 2000 child tax credit. What should i do in that case?
Thank you Travis. After watching this video, I have another question please. I file jointly married with spouse, each one job, 2 Jobs total with 2 dependent children. My mistake was for 2022 taxes ( we owe only in Federal), mark 2 dependent × 2k= $4000 credit, on my w4, because of that less federal taxes were taken out during year. Now, for 2023, moving forward, how to calculate if it's enough for me to just remove 4000$ credit by removing not listing 2 dependents or should I also add additional withholding on top of removing child crediforms. Q #2 on W4 form. Please advise
I’m in exact situation but usually always get a tax refund. Married file jointly with 2 kids. I claim only one kid $2k for my W4. My wife’s w4 is set to zero exemptions. She could change to claiming one child as well but never has. Her paycheck is taxed more than it should be but we never owe money at tax filing. My income is double hers so I claim the one child on my w4. We could claim 2 kids like you did on w4 but we would likely owe money. What we do to keep it fair since her paycheck is taxed at zero exemptions is that our refund is used for property tax on our house each year.
I am married is it best to file married but filing jointly, I want more back after filing our taxes? My biggest question is we have a child age 4 how do i fileso that we get the money back after filing our taxes instead of weekly? The lady who does our taxes said to fill out a w4 and not put anything in the dependent section. Is this correct?
Do i have to change birthdate of my new born so I can put child lived with me for more than 6 months. My baby was born in September. I have a extention to filw taxes deadline is October. I have yet to do my taxes. Do I have to change birthdate ?
new born will qualify for the entire year even if under 6 months old. There is no minimum for a newborn. If your newborn was born on December 31st, they'll count for the full amount in that year.
I recently filled this out married filling jointly and Indeed filled that claim dependent part out and put 6,000 and since I've started I've noticed that no federal withholding is being tooken out should I leave that part blank and sign so I get the most taken out
I would say have it zero or leave it blank. If you're not a good saver and rather have a refund when you have your taxes then do that. That's the best advice I can give you for this coming yr. The key is if you do want more pay from your pay check then you would save that amount but some people don't do that. So understandably. It may just be easier for you to have zero. Get the most taken out and you will get that refunded when you do your taxes.
Thank you for your video. I file married and Joint. I have one kid that's under 17 and I have another one that will be 17 in July of 2023. So, in the first line in step 3, do I put $2000 first child and $1500 for myself, wife and 2nd child? 🤔
Totally I screwed over on my 2022 tax, I did $2,000 per kid (I have 2 kids) which total $4,000. Shhhessshhh I owe $4,000 didn’t get anything back. Also they didn’t take any federal?
What’s your discord because I need help. I keep ending up owing every year. My tax expert recommended you to help me fix my w4 but I’m terrible with numbers . I’d greatly appreciate the discord info.
Life was so simple when you just listed the amount of Exemptions aka Dependents including Yourself. Sign and hand over to Payroll or HR. Lol
Yeah, it’s literally doing your taxes year round.
