When we’d give our basset Fred a bath, it was an all day event. The bath was the easy part, he’d sit there and let you bathe him. Drying took literally hours. Meanwhile our miniature schnauzer Lucky would take 20-30 minutes total. Fred was old when we found him and we had him for two years before he died. I miss him, the slobbery lovable mess. Same with my Lucky dog, of whom we’ve been without for 2 years now.😔
@Lunar Tears I’m so sorry for your losses. Never enough time with them, it’s been a few years and I still miss my boy. Thank you for adopting a senior dog, you’re good people!

As far as Dean is concerned, he now stinks like a human - due to that soap. His view: Yuk! How do I explain this to the neighborhood dogs?? To Chieff?? What were you thinking???! (Over time he will realize the new odor leads to more treats, hugs, and permissible bed pillow snatchings.)
Why is it that the lake is no problem to get wet in but taking a bath is like you're killing them? LOL (ps Love Dean's singing in the tub!)

I love the after bath time roll on the bed! Our hound will immediately run to her bed and flip around trying to make sure she has "her" smell back. We can't let her outside or she will find something nasty in the back yard to roll in.

Our Basset Henry is a stinker too. He starts to smell like corn chips gone bad. The after bath freak out is the same as well!

My Butters wo uld do the same ear rub drying off routine after every bath. Miss that guy. Bassets are the best dogs to have the pleasure of owning. Got a big English Mastiff now, much easier to get into the tub....LOL.
