I have always been taught that if you mix 2 different types of fuel it should turn clear. Today we will see what will really happen if you mix different fuels together. Comment what color you think it would turn. Be sure to leave a like and subscribe!
This is honestly a great video. It’s “common knowledge” that avgas plus jet A is clear, but obviously that doesn’t always happen. (Possibly depending on the dyes in the fuel?)
I’ve heard another good way to tell is that kerosene in your 100LL looks like “floaters” in your eye, but I haven’t yet verified myself.
I did some research since my last comment and it seems pretty clear that Jet-A and 100LL mix together kind of like coffee and milk and do not readily separate. So if you misfuel a plane with Jet-A instead of 100LL or vice-versa, you should get a fairly even mix in the tanks. It will be some shade of green-blue depending on the relative concentrations. That color should be noticeable if you take adequate samples from the sumps. This is of particular interest to me as I fly a Jet-A powered piston plane and it would definitely not be good if it was misfueled with 100LL.
Could you repeat this using a small amount of Jet-A and 100LL in a glass beaker or jar for a side view? I'd like to know if the Jet-A quickly separates from the 100LL or whether they stay mixed for a while.
when my instructor was teaching occluded front, I felt kinda dumb not to know blue+red=purple LOL
my guess is JET A will sink cuz it's heavier? I might be wrong...
I was taught that when 2 different fuel was mixed together it would turn clear. Clearly that didn’t happen haha
I've never tried this but It's very useful information
Now add some styrofoam to make the mixture white
Now if you mixed is much better then the regular one tell you that so you did the best thing cus I mix regular and premium and nothing happens until this day 👍🏾
I was hoping this would end with someone throwing a matchstick in one of those buckets. I mean come on man you went that far!
Is it as diesel ?
He mixed petrol (avgasoline) and aviation diesel
Can you do jet a with jet b?
WhTs avgas
Aviation fuel
Aviation gasoline, normally we use a1 a2 type fuel , but some plane use ignition chambers with spark plug etc so in this case we use avgas. Kind of blended petrol /gasoline.
Now dump that in your ride!
