    Just got this professionally installed last week. Its sounds just "ok" right now. I do need to dial it in and make some adjustments. Im sure it will open up a little more after that. I do love that i did not have to buy an additional amp for the subwoofer. 8/10

    Just installed this in my 2020 Tundra. I replaced the front and rear door speakers with Kickers also. This little thing punches hard. I have my gain less than a third of the way up and it is plenty of low end. I highly recommend, plus you can't beat the support at Crutchfield.

      It is not necessary to install it on top of noise canceling material, that should not hurt its sound. It is recommended to make sure this is properly secured in place in the vehicle

  • @Darlica1

    What I do not understand is that the kicker does not have RCA input so why would I install a converter? My factory stereo on my Jetta 2014 does not have RCA either so it feels redundant to install a LOC when I then have to go from speakerwire to LOC to speaker wire, especially since the HS8 can do both low and high? I am trying to understand why the LOC is needed at all?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your car has a factory amp or if you're planning to add more than just the one sub amp and maintain your factory radio, using a LOC is the best way to get clean signal. Otherwise, you can use the sub's speaker-level inputs.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your vehicle does not have a factory amp and you do not plan to add other aftermarket amps, you should be able to tap in for signal using the included speaker-level inputs with good results.

    I have an Alpine ILX 650 with dual RCA outs on the back. With the harness on the Kicker, It only has one set of speaker wires. Can my Alpine run the amp in mono, if only one RCA is plugged into the back of the Alpine stereo?

    • @crutchfield

      This Kicker powered subwoofer is designed to work with adapters like the Kicker KISL for when preamp level audio is being send to the subwoofer. And it will work with both RCA outputs on the radio. You can find this adapter here:

    This is a nice unit. Will this work in the Tour Pak trunk of a Harley Davidson motorcycle? Also if I already have an external amp with an aftermarket head unit, will it work in conjunction? Lastly, how do these compare to the Rockville SS8P 400 w or sound ordnance B-8PTD?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      these are more designed for under-seat, or in a car type situations. They are not marine rated, or meant for motorcycle use at all. These have a built in amplifier to power the subwoofer. So it will not need an external amplifier to run. As far as how it compares to the rockville, I am unsure, as i am not familiar with them. It will put out significantly more sound than the sound Ordnance though.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both great choices! As to which side, that will come down to how much you want to feel the bass. And, you can double check for fit using these dimensions: Kicker 14-1/4"W x 3-1/4"H x 9-3/8"D Alpine: 13.4"W x 2.875"H x 9.062"D

  • @ogzsxftw

    Do you know if this would fit good into a Buick 2002 lesabe, I plan on going under the driver seat but I may have to mount it so I can move back and forth with seat and so I can feel the bass most but the passenger seat has much more room underneath what is your thoughts ? I need it under the front somehow

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't measure the powered subs for vehicle specific fit; but, the dimensions are: 14-1/4"W x 3-1/4"H x 9-3/8"D

    I want this in my 21 tundra that already has the jbl sub and amp. Can I use the existing wiring to plug into this unit?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stock amp and subwoofer are two separate parts and this will not work as a plug-in replacement for them. New power wiring must be ran to the battery as well as audio cables to get the bass audio into it which comes included in the box with this powered subwoofer.

    wait, i thought you had to buy the RCA accessory if you wanted to connect this sub to an aftermarket head unit that has RCA preamps....you said you have to buy an accessory to run it with factory unit?? I'm confused now...

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That Kicker only has RCA inputs. If you want to use it with a factory head unit (speaker level inputs) you need some speaker level to RCA adapters. If you are using an aftermarket head unit you would use regular RCA patch cables.

    • @TheKeithIvar
      @TheKeithIvar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@crutchfield thanks for the reply! But, I'm still confused. The side panel of the Kicker 11HS8 shown in this video, has the HI level speaker inputs, but no low level RCA inputs. What am I missing here? Most other Compact subs have the RCA inputs as well as the HI level speaker inputs, but this one only seems to have the HI level speaker inputs.. So I would only need to buy the RCA adapter accessory to run this sub with a low level RCA connection with an aftermarket radio that has RCA sub outputs.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not missing anything. That's exactly right. While it CAN be used with a preamp signal, it does require the adapters. It's primary application is often a factory add-on where speaker level connections are more common.

    • @cbelor
      @cbelor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keith Peterson I’m not sure I am following what they are trying to say on this part. If you have a factory head unit (I installed one on my factory unit) then RCA is not needed in any part of the project. Splice the wires wherever you like (head unit, front speakers, rear speakers) then connect the included wire harness to those spliced wires. Generally, you also don’t need the remote turn on wire as long as you use DC offset. Power and ground of course are self explanatory.
