I'm taking another farmhouse piece of furniture and flipping it into a modern sideboard for my dining room makeover. My makeover plan started out different but I landed on this amazing faux wood finish that looks just like real wood. You have to check out this furniture makeover to believe it!

I've used this technique to create a faux wood look myself, but your idea for creating a perfect jointed wood door is genius. Thank you for this tip! This piece looks so lux.
The one thing I don’t have is freedom to do stuff like this. I have the space, but no time, and hubby had to agree to everything. I’ll be happy just to be thankful for what I have and keep dreaming and watching these videos for entertainment!
I love the wood look. I've found my natural wood pieces sell better than painted pieces in my area. One of my favorite looks is a gray wash with Varathane gray stone stain.

I used this process to refinish my bathroom cabinets and they came out great! Initially, I tried using Floetrol but since it is actually used to level paint, it was difficult to achieve the faux finish without repeatedly going over the surface multiple times; it kept leveling! 🙄I found that Velspar glaze worked much better. After applying the paint, I used a soft deck staining brush before going in with the stiffer brush. The deck staining brush removed the paint more efficiently and created subtle lines in the paint. Then, I went in with the same brush that you used to achieve the final look.

Love how it turned out! You inspired my first painted piece from your hutch and buffet. I did it the same as you did with the light grey, whitewashing and distressing. I even took out all of the glass on the doors. I have since been looking to update my pieces to warmer shades. This has given me ideas of possibly even separating the pieces. I have to a lot to think about, but I feel change is in the air! 😬
