Preseason is critical to figuring out fringe roster spots. Young players need every rep that they can get. Practice and drills can only teach you so much about a player's skills.
The preseason record for your favorite team doesn't matter. The preseason in general doesn't matter to the first 40 players on the roster. But for players 41-80, the preseason definitely matters.
Pre-season has completely changed and past performance is not relevant. It’s literally just practice now. Nobody shows ANYTHING in these games on either side of the ball and it’s become 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stringers getting some opportunity to be noticed. I watch for individual performance but that’s even hard. Like watching can a guy block…can a guy tackle, can a guy cover. How was the starting QB performances in the pre-season….who the hell knows. They didn’t play much or run any kind of decent playbook. Too much over analysis and let’s get to actual games please that mean something.
Dan Patrick’s comment at 4:45 just shows how little he knows. He’s an imposter. He said “Lamar Jackson is developing into a good, pretty good passer.” LJ has been a top-tier passer for years now. He’s incredible. And Dan Patrick has no idea because he watches zero film, even though he’s a “football analyst” by profession. The mediocrity that is accepted from the talking heads in this industry is just baffling. You have to be really obvious and unplugged to not know by now how great of a passer LJ is
My theory is people that whiffed on Lamar Jackson are giving him the benefit of the doubt because he plays the same kind of game. What they forget is Lamar was actually good in college and Richardson was disappointing to put it pnicely
I don’t think Dan and the Danette’s are to fond of CJ stroud. Really they’re up in arms on how wrong they were about him ever since last year’s draft 😅.
When Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels get to run their college offense versus second stringers, then preseason is totally valid. When Anthony Richardson looks like week old poop versus the Bengals second stringers, then preseason doesn't matter. It is all about selling tickets this time of year.
The NFL preseason does not matter. College and high school football get along just fine without a preseason. The reason why there is a preseason is to line the pockets of the owners. Starters rarely play in preseason games anymore. So they are a rip off to the fan who paying the same price for a preseason game as they would for a regular season game. As far as getting the players in shape for football, the only good thing about the Covid year of 2020 is that is proof that preseason is not needed in the NFL. Something that is different now that did not happen years ago, is that teams will scrimmage against each other as part of training camp. They can get their actual football conditioning in that way. And the starters do play in the scrimmages.

Preseason isnt for the fans or media. it is for the coaches and GMs. they use it to determine roster spots 40-53.
and players use it to actually get ready for the season. At least the smart teams do
I had no idea who the 2nd team was!😂😂😂
Was it the colts?
Was it the packers?
😂😂😂
Pre season matters in the sense of experience and roster spots, but overall pre season record doesn’t seem to matter.

Dont focus on record, just focus on player performance...
For example, Daniel Jones 😮
Woodside: So you’re saying there’s a chance
We know it doesn't matter. But we wish it did matter.

Pre-season does mean something.
Ever heard of the Ravens? Great preseason record, usually makes the playoffs.
Of course it does, Dan....I mean, what else matters this time of year?...hint of sarcasm.
Dan Patrick and these bozos are like the last guys that should be commenting on stuff like this. They don’t know anything
Richardson only started 6 games in college. He's still learning.
I don't remember Peyton manning's colts ever winning a lot of preseason games

Lamar Jackson is NOT even close to an elite passer what are you smoking??? He’s MID as hell…
What happened in the playoffs?
The NFL would love to make it matter to fans...........because NFL.
Why are ppl acting like Richardson is good?

Look at point differential not record and that shows a different story.
Preseason record is meaningless! The players deciding games in the 4th quarter will be cut or practice squad at best
Preseason NFL is ver useful, especially when ypu cash like last night's Bears and Cplts covers. 💰
young people with the longest investment runway giving their money to vegas is just brainless
Chiefs always suck in the preseason…. It doesn’t matter. Spending any time on this beyond saying “Kansas City chiefs, google it.” Is pointless
Fact: Only two teams over the last 50 years have won the Super Bowl when going winless in preseason play ('82 Washington; '21 LA Rams)
What do you mean?
@@Hoodlum728 I'm saying its "bad luck" to go winless in preseason play.
@@kos500 oh cool, thanks for explaining. Have a great weekend!
Yes, stop undermining preseason.

I find AR's poor performance is useful when I cash my Texans -2 ticket on week 1, finda cash 🤑
@@genemontoya4028lol dumb broncos fans are already calling em the next elway. Reminds me of Tebow and Paxton lynch lol even Jay cutler
