Nixon proposed a guaranteed basic income, the EPA, signed the National Environmental policy act, Endangered Species act, and clean air act. He singed Title IX, made the voting age 18 from 21. He visited China, which led to warming relations between Communist China and the USA. The Watergate break-in wasn't even ordered by Nixon, but he did lie to cover it up, also his campaign in 1968 actually extended the war in Vietnam so he could use the Vietnam war to get elected by promising to end it (which he did, after over a million more people died). I wouldn't call him the best president ever,. In terms of his accomplishments he did a lot for the country, but he also violated laws in the process, and that's the only thing people remember him for.

the Chicago mob to help win there, I don't think he got over his wife Pat aka Buddy i loved the way he called her that name. I believe he probably died of a broken heart when she died in 1993 Nixon died the next year I remember watching the funeral and the five presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan Bush and Clinton. 1993, and Nixon is the respected elder statesman of foreign policy. He was very smart. His paranoia and self doubts destroyed his political career. He greatly lacked character. It’s easy to say this now, but when he first heard of the break in at the Watergate hotel he should have stayed clear of it. He won in 1972 by the biggest landslide in history! Aug. ‘74 he resigned!
