anyone just discovering this band, just know they are in all forms, "as good as it gets" in this style of music... They concluded their musical stint here in seattle, destroyed their sets. seriously one of the best progressive math rock bands that has ever existed--I've been a massive fan since their album Menos El Oso way back when i heard it in 2006-7. As a drummer, I can only hope to find the pocket like this man did.
Dude as I drummer I used to play along to menos el oso all the time. Such a sick fucking drummer. Haven't consistently played in years but thinking of getting an electric kit ASAP.
I literally had tickets to BOTH the Planet Of Ice tour AND the Farewell Tour and flaked on both of them... undoubtedly a few of my life's biggest regrets. I am still (obviously) a massive fan, and it hurts just as bad now.
Erin (drummer) is one of the best and creative that know of. When ever I see a show from Minus the Bear live, he is always putting effort and energy into his playing. Also, he sweats balls and looks like he just ran a mile during, and after the show. This is why I love to hear this drummer.
I come back to see this video once every month and mi insight for this time is that they look like 5 different Jim Halperts reunited from different realities
Man I'm so fucking bummed Erin left. He was like the ultimate fit to the bands sound in terms of his skill and his originality as a musician. Idk how they expect to find an adequate replacement. That guy is one-of-a-kind
I just saw them a few days ago. If the new song they played was any indication of how well of a fit this new guy is, it was awesome! The song was really rad too
The guitarist uses 4 sampling pedals called DL-4. He uses them to record guitar parts and play them back with a unique sound that you can't really get by playing normally. The same thing happens at 2:35, but this time around, you get a shot right on the guitarist's feet to see what he's doing.
2022 been listening since 2010 and just found out they’re one of those bands that sounds even better live than on their albums 🤯 (and they sound great on their albums) didn’t even seem possible
Erin Tate honestly is one of the best drummers to ever watch perform and to listen to. Not only that, he's one of the most humble guys to talk to after their shows. If you think his drumming is tight, a few years ago they toured with Russian Circles, and their drummer is almost as great as he is....as for this video -- amazing footage!
It’s absolutely amazing and inspiring how they use three line 6 dl4s to create these loops and overdubs. I’m about to buy one reverb. I’m so intrigued by this fantastic pedal. It’s on so many famous recordings
@JJTricksProductions This is quite possibly my favorite song to play on drums. A friend of mine and I do a MTB cover band when we're between bands/have some down time.
@ilikecerealz1 they do often use interesting time signature changes, like in the song 'Throwin Shapes' or 'Burying Luck'. But this song is all in 4/4, they just use odd phrase lengths which make it sound much more complex
god they are so freaking amazing... every time i hear any of their songs it just fills me with this joyous feeling beyond andything else can... except sex and a few other things >.>
This drummer is freakin' amazing
Mr. Tate!
That he is
What is his name?
@@sun6moon9 jim carry
@@sun6moon9 Mr. Erin David Tate, f** amazing drummer
that loop thing the guitarist does for half the song is one of the most genious things i've ever seen.
Erin Tate. GOD.
@@richardhughes601 he's talking about the guitarist not the drummer?
@@adamh4680 That's Dave Knudson
@@richardhughes601 i know but you mentioned Erin? The OP was talking about the guitarist.

and to me the guitar is where it is at ! the whole damn band was in the pocket - theirs...
I've half-jokingly described them as the best band to come out of Seattle.
@@almostideal1306 Not far off, easily a top 3 Seattle band...for me
Dude as I drummer I used to play along to menos el oso all the time. Such a sick fucking drummer. Haven't consistently played in years but thinking of getting an electric kit ASAP.
You got that right, i'm a drummer too, and this guy is amazing!
All good things must come to an end. Thank you for your music, Minus the Bear.
I know I just missed there last show in my state😔
It's so sad. I'm seeing them in Tampa on 11/27. I've seen them every year in Orlando since 2007. I just can't believe it's over.
I literally had tickets to BOTH the Planet Of Ice tour AND the Farewell Tour and flaked on both of them... undoubtedly a few of my life's biggest regrets. I am still (obviously) a massive fan, and it hurts just as bad now.

drums going absolute HAM
I'd like to take a moment to thank saints row 2. Without it I would've never found my favorite band, Minus The Bear...
Mattman0106 that's right! Same for mastodon and the thermals!
Super same
Most definitely true!
i don't play much video games but I now know my friends did back in the days
Never seen a game that has had a better soundtracks than saints row 2
It’s 2021 and I absolutely still love these guys
"I owe you... donuts" thanks :-)
Thanks, I can't unhear that...

one of the best comments I've read today, good call 😂
Wolowitz playing drums like a boss!
I miss spending the whole night listening to MySpace bands which lead me to Minus the Bear.
Man I'm so fucking bummed Erin left. He was like the ultimate fit to the bands sound in terms of his skill and his originality as a musician. Idk how they expect to find an adequate replacement. That guy is one-of-a-kind
yeah i know what a dick head

Erin Tate is one the best drummers alive. In my head, it's a toss-up between him, Steve Padin, Gavin Harrison, and Blake Richardson.
This song is one of their most underrated.
The guitarist uses 4 sampling pedals called DL-4. He uses them to record guitar parts and play them back with a unique sound that you can't really get by playing normally.

does he have four line 6 delays lol

Drummers pocket is brilliant! Loving the dynamic and creativity :)) Minus the bear good stuff dudes!

Killer song, and the drummer is absolute ferocious, whatta performance!!
Haven't heard this song in a long time, remember first listening to it in 2007!
I can listen to this all day
They have to be the tightest live band I've ever had the fortune to see
Still one of my favorite bands of ALL TIME! 🙌🏽
The guitarist is this band! The way he goes back and fourth samples to lead so dope
It’s absolutely amazing and inspiring how they use three line 6 dl4s to create these loops and overdubs. I’m about to buy one reverb. I’m so intrigued by this fantastic pedal. It’s on so many famous recordings

I saw them in Buffalo Ny, 2007. Nice way to be opened up to them.
I like how Dave has 4 DL4's all set up there and then Jake has two of his own as well.
I miss Erin.
Chables I miss him so damn much!
Miss U Erin
That drummer though . Sick sound
I like how at 2:39 he plays the same beat as the intro to Memphis & 53rd
good catch
One of the best bands ever!!! Seattle rules!!!!!!! Big HELLO from Serbia!

Javier Bardem is the drummer?
Damn i wish i was there you can feel it in the air ..........LOL...Live on MTB
How many DL4's does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of Minus the Bear? 1? uh2hoo? uh3? uh4? the world may never know.

So clean
this is amazing
MINUS THE BEAR LIVE? AM I DREAMING??
erin tate is fucking ridiculous. murders the kit on this song. wow.
And staying in time with the DL4 loops, for the most part. That's gotta be tricky to get the feel for.
fuck erin tate asshole left the band
gman221 actually he got kicked out.
For real, he left the band for some shitty ass Indy band that never even made it big

@Swiftlygothedays yeah and the shins and Iron & Wine... they are all signed with SubPop
What a hell of a drummer.
WOW!!! this song it's so much better live !!!!!
@ilikecerealz1
they do often use interesting time signature changes, like in the song 'Throwin Shapes' or 'Burying Luck'. But this song is all in 4/4, they just use odd phrase lengths which make it sound much more complex
No disrespect to the rest of the band, but when Erin left, the band lost what made them sound like them
Damn good, just damn good...
Sickness!
It would be awesome if they had the drumset in the front. This band has such amazing talent.
Holy shit! Who composed this song? That is some genious work!
Que somzera!
So many looper pedals! I'm jealous. :( I have no pedals.
That drummer ripped it UP!
god they are so freaking amazing... every time i hear any of their songs it just fills me with this joyous feeling beyond andything else can... except sex and a few other things >.>
@FINGERSFORTEETH Yes!!
Drumming? the entire band is sick!
the drummer reminds me of javier bardem in "no country for old man " in this video ahah
Andrea Caccese straight up !!!
There's something very beatles-y about this video. Incredible shot. Absolute tune. Kinda annoyed they haven't improved on POI.
"hidden gems"
damn straight
love the lead guitar on this track... fn pysch man
4 DL4! That's some crazy use of that delay/loop pedal....
lol, i didnt notice that till you pointed it out.
QUE VIVA
one of the best.
Number one
if I was looking for a new guitar to play clean tapping and this kind of stuff on...
any suggestions?
does anyone know what synth is being played? Looks like a Nord. Not sure which model though.
Absolute murder on the drums mon
@FINGERSFORTEETH great movie!
