I've been doing a bit of gouache painting and feeling pretty discouraged because the way I lay down colors always seem to be muddy and oversaturated and not cohesive but I love your painting processes! they motivate me to keep trying with gouache 😊
I definitely had a hard time with gouache as well for a long time, which is why I put it aside for years and didn’t use it much until recently. I find it really hard to predict exactly what colours will look like when they’re dry, but I think practice helps improve that (maybe you could try doing a full page of just colour swatches to figure out what mixtures work and which don’t, or which colours work together!)
