@@zenoevol5991 I mean the "drug life" originated from the thug life anyway so nothing is new. These problems have been around for literal decades, only difference is that they're being put out there as blatantly as it can get now; no sugarcoating, while also trying to shed some more nuance on these issues. Also I don't think many of these new artists are glorifying and are trying to popularize these drugs, but rather that's a sad byproduct that happens when someone becomes idolize from speaking their life, people would eventually try to emulate it. Because by no means do I think Kendrick and J. Cole are trying to glorify drugs, but they literally have multiple songs referencing drugs in the lyrics or meanings behind them, you know?
@slowed down music, what you call Thug Life, was life for a lot of the artist in the 90s, they actually lived it and they were sending a message, they were not glorifying it. They was trying to open the countries eyes to what was going on. This shit now, is just glorifying destructive behavior, no message in it, all for the money.

BTW, the high pitched whine on N.W.A.'s song is called a sine wave....basically. Its considered to be the ''Lead'' in the beat arrangement. The sound was popularized with analog synths that were used in much of the funk music during the 60's & 70's. Dre, DJ Quik, Daz Dillinger and other west coast producers just brought those leads (and other analog synth sounds) back during the early 90's and incorporated them into their production.
