So earthy and natural. I agree about consumerism ruining the season. Being bombarded with advertisements as soon as Halloween is over and the Christmas items are on display in the stores desperately seeking your attention and hard earned cash. The simple ways and simple days are largely lost in the shuffle. We try to enjoy time spent together as a family baking cookies and goodies, enjoying quiet games and a crackling fire to warm to cold nights. Keeping the holidays in a calm, quiet and non commercial way. Enjoying each other’s company. Really like the way you made your wreath with materials at hand, the orange garland, the Yule log and the cookies. Taking the time to make them and making each item special and meaningful.
Love watching your videos. Such simple decorations that are so much of the holiday season. I remember them from my childhood seventy years ago. We lived in the country and didn't have much more than the love our parents gave us, but we were very happy.
Blessings to you and your family. Please don't overdo. I remember working so hard when pregnant. My back hurt. Rest and take care. Little one will be here before you know it. I'm 65, and have to adult sons.
Beautiful! Creating traditions is such a healing and giving process. The decrease in daylight can be so very difficult. I actually start a countdown to the number of days til the first day of spring 😊. Little lights and candles help to bring a sense of peace ✨. Thank you for sharing! Everything looks wonderful!💞
That sky in the background of your “Welcome December” prologue is quite picturesque. Your daughter playing in the snow as you hang Christmas lights, quietly enjoying herself, was such a joy to witness, and an ability lost on most of today’s children. How fortunate for her to have the opportunity and loving parents who have raised her so well. The natural decorations are a lovely inspiration and certainly harken back to my youth when my European grandparents decorated with locally-sourced materials. I remember how, as a child, over sixty years ago, I would accompany my grandfather into the pine barrens behind the house to cut down a suitable tree for Christmas. We also had a neighbor with large holly trees on his property, who would share the holly branches from his yearly pruning. Life seemed so much simpler and gentler in those days. How wonderful to be able to make a Christmas Wreath and Yule Log out of locally sourced fresh materials. Such skill - and patience. The end results are so beautiful and a far cry from anything store-bought, though I have not seen an authentic Yule Log for sale here in the States for many a year. The scene at 12:39-13:05 where you light the candles on the Yule Log with the woodshed viewed in the background through the windowpanes in the fading light is picture perfect, and could easily be made into a Christmas card - just lovely in its simplistic serenity. And those homemade cookies certainly looked delicious! Thank you for sharing a way of life that few of us will ever get to experience, poignantly portrayed in the closing shot of your beautiful farmhouse featured in the video’s prologue.

Thank you sharing your decorations also drying the oranges and baking biscuits. Such a peaceful watch seeing your lit up home with snow outside. It is beautifully relaxing.

It's wonderful seeing you make the traditional Christmas decorations, here in South Africa it's not something people do, but I love it.❤️
