Thank you for the video I just finished changing mine out and biggest trouble was getting the spark plug wire off the spark plug took me 3 hours taking it easy. 2014 c350 sport
You Can use a special set of pliers that have a half moon shaped loop at each end of the tool at an angle. It loops around the spark plug boot and you squeeze/pull otherwise you’ll fight them.
Good video. Glad you didn't remove the plenum assembly (cover with the 'V6' logo at 0:47) like some videos show - if you do remove it you need to get new plenum seals (don't re-use the old ones!) and they are not cheap else they will leak air and the engine management light will come on after a week: I know that because that's what my Mercedes dealer did 😣
@@thor294 It's definitely a Clic-R, and you're right, the tool for those makes it very easy to unclip and re-clip them. Just did this job on a c350 today and confirmed it.
Well, unplugging the battery resets your clock and radio stations, which is a pain. First rule when doing anything to the ecu is to disconnect the battery. Just like any computer you need to unplug it before you work on it
Your better off taking off the plenum and having full access???? It’s 4 bolts and you will have full access to all plugs and coils. ? I get you got to buy 3$ gaskets and swab em if you take the plenum off but shit this is a 5 hour job vs a 2hour lol. Take off the plenum and be done man.
Camera provided a clear view of this engine, only missing the real -time removal of the wiring harness and all it's weird clips. What tools are best for that?
some of my coil on plug was hard to pull off, just use your judgement, that is why I used dielectric grease on the boot of the coil packs. they fit very snug
I just did it without removing the manifold and am glad I didn't go through the extra trouble. That rear plug didn't seem so hard to me. I'm sure watching this video saved me a little time though.
Good video my guy thinking of doing it myself instead of taking it to a shop! My only concern is do you have to torque the new spark plugs to a certain lb?? And do you have to change the coil packs also or can you just do the spark plugs?
Depends on the miles, my car had 60k, 23 Nm/17 ft.-lbs. on the plugs. 9 Nm for the coil pack bolts....NGK recommends a torque range of 18 ft-lbs to 21.6 ft-lbs for their plugs.
Great video. I do agree rear plug on driver side is pain in the ass to remove. After struggling for an hour I was unable to remove it. So now I have 5 new and one old plug lol. Lets see if I get any misfires in future. Thanks for making this video. Appreciate it man!
Make video on how to take everything off struggling with ecu bracket
Thanks for doing this! Only video I’ve seen of my engine same type. Very helpful.
Same problem
LOL such a nightmare changing spark plugs on this engine.
Yeah tell me about it, on my Honda fit, it was a cake walk lol
Why didn’t you show up all the steps but I guess it is what it is

How to free the wires for the computer from the bracket you removed? There is a “screw” on the bottom the zip tie that’s screwed onto the bracket.

That’s not true. I’ve reused them many times without a problem. I suspect they were not in place properly when the upper intake was installed.
They have a special tool for that airbox clip it makes life a lot easier
It looks like a big Clic-R clamp?
@@brassmule something like that I forget the name

how the fuck did you take off the ecu
Pull up, its snug
How do I put that clip back 1:20
For the air intake clip, I used needle-nose pliers
Do you need to unplug battery. Worried about unpluging wire from computer.

Removing the coil is giving me a problem, can you tell me if this is normal, don't want it to break inside if a i pull on it too much?

Damn didn’t take off the plenum?!

Do you gotta torque down the new spark plugs?
Spark plugs are indexed and must be torqued.

Okay thanks for the response and the lbs to use! I think ima go with the Bosch spark plugs any difference between oem and Bosch or should be good?

Do you have to disconnect battery when removing the ecu to get to the driver side spark plugs?

Smart man!! Good shiiii!!!
I like how they make u take apart the whole car just to do a simple job gotta love Mercedes
What? This is easy compared to many other manufacturers.
Dude, you do this at 100K miles...no biggie.
Good video
Doing the coil pack n plugs on my c300 right now

@@UnicycleWheelie Thank you so much! Love the content.
Thanks for posting! I was just looking at mine and wondered how the computer came off. Looked to me like it just pulled off and you confirmed it!
what size socket did you use to remove the ignition coils 2:25
E10 socket
@@UnicycleWheelie do you use the same size to remove the spark plug itself?
Need a 14mm deep 12pt thin wall socket. I used Part # 22814
SKU # 814164 from AuroZone @@devongrant1076
