- When the wind prediction tells you to expect 30 kn of wind and you get much more than that.
For me, it was pretty hard to get or stay on the board and it was a real struggle while the pros were handling it with a smile.

You need a 3.5 sail mate! Good for you for trying. Too much overpowered isn’t fun at all. You can try water starting in the straps directly too. That’s one tip for high winds conditions. Good luck!
well I did just that, strap starting…..and it works…… but a 3.5 meter sail is pretty much useless most of the time for a 108 kg guy…. I used the five meter three times only within the last 25 years 😇

Hans did few of the fastest runs on the planet this year there, and you witnessed it! I was a few kilometres south at Zonnemaire having fun but knowing my limitations I used wavegear.
That would have been definitely the better choice for me as well. Entered the water at 29 kn… been blown away half an hour later😂
Notice the most important thing. He starts with his feet in the footstraps. Then, right after that is the quick clip in the harness.
We often think that in hard conditions , a soft free ride stuff will be easier to ride . Yet no ... pro slalom stuff is managed much better !

What really helps me in very strong winds is to water-start in footstraps. And, of course, you need a small sail.
Completely understandable situation. I am also a weekend warrior, and I just can´t justify buying that small sail and kit for 1-2 times usage a year.
justifying board number 8 or sail number 12 would be extremely hard for me to do when it comes to arguing with my wife…. just saying☝️

Den Stress mit dem ultrabrutalen Hackepeter hab ich mir erspart. Dafür war es gestern vormittag schön entspannt. Nach dem Gewitter gings los und ich ging auch... und zwar weg.
