You sounded almost apologetic when you gave the price lol When i upgrade any of my gear I sell the gear it’s replacing helps to offset the cost. If I go for a big cast I follow the flight of the lead or feeder with the rod tip gives you a couple of extra yards. Nice vid.
Good vid as always joe. Seems match fishing is doing a very good job of pricing out the people it so badly needs these days. Think I'll carry on making what tackle i have work
Trevor Or Thanks Trevor. It's an interesting point. I think it's important companies keep pushing with their top end stuff as all of those developments eventually filter down 👍
How much better is a £400 feeder rod than a £100 feeder rod really? If you are fishing a big reservoir the bottom is probably pretty uniform so why would fishing at 90 metres really be that much better than fishing at 60 metres? Personally I can't justify spending loads of money on tackle but last year caught a 6lb chub on my £50 9 feet Frenzee feeder rod because I used it in a way that played to it's strengths.
In a match fishing situation it can be very important to fish further out than the anglers around you. In those situations then, yes a quality rod capable of casting is a big advantage.
@@DrewWithington I was of the same opinion until recently , I for one never believed better quality blanks improved casting accuracy I thought it was just marketing bumpf . How wrong I was , better quality carbon blanks behave more consistantly and recover quicker meaning more true and consistant casting . I have also found that better rods often improve playing of fish due to better feedback and with distance rods I find cheaper rods although they may allow you to get to where you want they often make compromises on weight , and bite detection etc . I would however say that in my opinion there are certain brands where you do pay more for the brand as opposed to other brands that offer similar specced products for less
After watching your visit to the factory I bought an 11’ slr. Just been using it in Ireland’s for 9 days and must say it’s the “Mutts nuts”. Fishing up to 70m with 30 gm guru x change with ease even in strong wind. Also with 25gm drennan maggot bombs at 50m And 15 gm around 20-30m a great all round tool. Coupled with Centris 520 a beautiful pairing with 15lb J braid I am sure would cover most people for all their feeder fishing. What reel were you using for 97m. ????? I also have XTD 5500 but cast so well with the 520 didn’t need to break out the 5500
A 5500 XTD. it's a nice set up with that reel. But i agree those 520 Centres are superb. Been using mine an awful lot of late and think they are great.
Hi mate there awesome aren't they bought one after watching your vlog of the trip upto daiwa hq best money I've ever spent. Just a quick one which reels do you prefer the 5500 or the black vipers
That is a downside but the Castizm makes up for it in other areas. Not least with it's MagSealed technology which is fantastic and essential imo for feeder fishing when you're getting groundbait everywhere.
joe as an ex sea angler casting instructor to gain maximum distance you MUST MUST follow the lead down let the line run as free as possible to gain extra yards you need no line against the eyes.. believe me you will add somewhere about 5 to 8 yards . it makes huge difference.
Look like nice rods! I'm mainly on the Thames but with the nature of the beast I need a rod that can do skimmers 1 minute and barbel to doubles the next... What's the playing action like on a larger fish? I know the line rating is to 12lb but would like a rod that doesn't lock up too much lower down. And which length (11 or 12) would you suggest lends itself to the widest range of species? Thanks.
Why do you not make a review for other more incredible rods from other brands like Zemex, Flagman? If in comparison the price from Daiwa and other brands - other brands have more incredible rods with a lower price.
Really enjoy your videos! looking at a pair of 13ft SLRs myself! such a quality bit of kit.... cheers . (btw please keep the videos coming)
Is this rod sensitive enough (bites and when playing the fish) for smaller fish?
And how with 70-80gr feeder?

The guides still can be done in more advanced way.
Good vid as always joe. Seems match fishing is doing a very good job of pricing out the people it so badly needs these days. Think I'll carry on making what tackle i have work

Even the bottom end is extortionate these days. Killing match fishing for many people
Whats this venue called Joe, or is it top secret ? I'd love to fish it !

Thanks for reply Joe. Are the 12,13 & 14’. 3 piece or 2 please. Cheers John
John Fryer
12 is 2 piece, 13 is 3 piece. Not sure about 14 but would guess 3 simply because not heard of many 4 piece feeders, even long range ones.

I use both! The Black Viper reels are fantastic! caught me totally off guard too and have been loads better than i though they would be!
Match Fishing Films thanks mate I have the vipers and go well with the 13 slr
stephen brand possibly. Although those Shimano 5500 reels are tremendous and a great price
