Emma, please don’t let this get you down. Always enjoy watching your free videos ( I think people forget that they are getting something for nothing and that you put in a lot of work to produce these videos )and completely understand that you need to find ways to make money to support your channel, doesn’t mean people have to buy from them! I wish we could all afford to be so high and mighty and pick and choose where we buy from.. sending hugs xx

The garden mat is fantastic! I bought a green one and it is so so useful!
PS this is the first year where I am seeing a lot of bug hotels. They are a lot of fun to make, but I have to say to have one ready to be hanged is always a nice thing :D
I would like you to show us more bird feeders. I think Temu has a lot of those, and they deserve more than a couple of minutes.

Emma just a word of advice. Don’t stretch the hose without it being attached to a water supply. The inner water pipe will be ripped and will leak. I don’t know how I know this😉😀

I had wondered about Temu as had seen both good and bad reviews. Like many platforms they are basically middle men for different companies. Unfortunately it has been shown that they do not check their suppliers (or turn a blind eye to keep things cheap) and some of whom are known to produce their products in labour camps in Xinjiang. They need to clean up their act.

It's time for people to step down from their high horses and face the reality of our interconnected world. While preaching about sustainability and ethics, we often overlook the uncomfortable truths surrounding our own consumption habits. High street clothes, for instance, are often produced using cheap labor in unethical working conditions. Even our beloved iPhones contain parts manufactured in questionable circumstances in Taiwan. And let's not forget about the origin of our coffee or tea-is it truly fair trade? Before casting judgment, we should acknowledge that living truly ethically in a complex global system is challenging, and no one is exempt from scrutiny. It's time to embrace humility, self-reflection, and stop merely pointing a finger at Emma.

Emma I loved your channel and I even bought your gardening journal. Lately however I’ve noticed you’re promoting things more and more during your videos (which a lot of YT creators do) and offering discount codes which I do understand helps you financially and that’s totally fine, but I preferred your videos when they weren’t chocka full of lengthy ads. This site however is really bad and full of cheap tat from China and cheap labour, and that’s if you’re lucky enough for it to be delivered!. There’s no way I’d order anything from it. Im very shocked you’re promoting it. 😳😩😩

    • @emmasallotmentdiaries

You’re right, the ads do help me out financially. This is my main source of income now and we have to pay our mortgage! Secondly, most of my videos do not contain ads. And when they do it’s only for a minute or so. It just so happens a few ad deadlines have fallen in July, which is unfortunate but can’t always be helped. And thirdly, I haven’t heard many negative things about temu. They cut out the middle man (retail stores) and offer discounted prices and during this cost of living, I thought it would be helpful to my audience to see how good their products are if you choose to purchase from them.
Completely understand your points, but I’m my defence, I have put out almost 500 allotment videos and very few of them contain ads and for the first year, non of them were even monetised.

I HAVE noticed an increase in the ads on your channel though, despite your reply, and they do last for quite a while. I always skip them as they go on and on. All I’m saying is they spoil my enjoyment of the videos. I’m sure I’m not alone with this opinion. It’s just a shame your channel has gone down the route of so many others in trying to cash in as much as possible. I liked this channel as it used to be a bit different. 😟😟

No I appreciate what you’re saying, it’s your opinion and I respect that. I understand that my videos used to be totally ad free but I was earning no money and there’s no way I would have been able to continue creating them for free. Each video takes me hours to make and doing that kind of work for nothing is not sustainable.
I’m sorry you don’t enjoy them so much anymore. Videos that are adverts are clearly marked with an #ad so maybe just don’t watch those ones 😊

@@emmasallotmentdiaries I think they are talking about the TH-cam ads which are normally at the beginning but have started appearing part way through as well.

That's TH-cam. It's how it works. People dont create content for nothing. It's time, money and a job. If you don't want to support a company being promoted then dont buy from them, quite simple really (although pretty much all usual/affordable shops in the UK are selling the same mass produced in china tat anyway) and if you dont like ads splash out a tenna a month for youtube premium and get no ads, same as people do for any other video subscription such as netflix, disney+
