I didn't know alpha readers was a thing - when I was dabbling with writing in high school, having alpha readers would have been so helpful cause I get discouraged so quickly >_< this was so interesting to hear about, beta reading sounds really interesting and I'm glad you've found a good group of trusted people 🙂

Definitely want to go about getting some beta readers for my current novel that I’m working on for the end of next month/early September. This was very useful, thank you

How do you trust people with your ideas?

The same way you'd trust people with anything! Build a relationship outside of writing and listen to your gut :) Honestly, 99% of writers are too wrapped up in their own ideas to steal from others in my experience
