I think that this update seems really promising to me but I know a lot of people have a lot of different opinions after the big EAC Security Update. Leave a comment and let me know what you think! For me personally I thought it was pretty rough at first but like I said yesterday, if they can follow through and deliver on all of this, that's huge in my opinion. (If you can only see the video in 360p it's still processing on youtube, sorry about that)

As long as EAC is still in the game. I will not be impressed with anything they offer and still will not be going back to the game. It makes the game less secure and significantly reduces performance. There is ZERO justification for VRChat Inc. to keep defending EAC's implementation--it must be removed immediately.
The moment I hear from VRChat Inc. the sentence "EAC has been removed from the game and will not be coming back", I will reinstall the game from Steam.
Alienate your community by implementing an AntiCheat program... Panic when you start losing people and receive tons of negative feedback... Finally get off your Arse and do something you should of done from the start to try to fix the things the community had to fix for you... Seeing how disconnected and uncaring the developers are I WOULD NOT be surprised that they are STEALING the mods and implementing someone else's work to speed up their updates. I say this because alot of the changes they are making were already done by the modders... So exciting to get the stuff back they removed.
I honestly just have a hunch that Tupper is trying far too hard to get back the community he lost as a result of his own corrupt actions. Like I mean, these features are nice yes... But doesn't help the fact that overall VRChat Inc won't remove EAC until someone forces the truth down all their throats, including Tupper.

Competition Will Strengthen All the VR Social platforms.... Also again everything LuckyVR listed were mods i was using... VRC developers are just implementing the mods into the main game.... Lazy

Proton wasn't fixed by VRChat; it was fixed by Valve. VRChat's newer EAC wasn't compatible with Proton, and that meant people who used SteamDecks (me) couldn't use VRChat, despite being advertised as "Great on Deck".
So once again, in the spirit of everything else the features list basically was, VRChat had to rely on a third party to fix a problem they created themselves.
Proton also didn't work with VR on Linux. They fixed that, it went into the bleeding edge build for proton but that has major crashing bug for vrchat, so it's still a no go for Linux users wanting to run actual vr for vrchat
Woah steamdecks run linux? I actually didn't know, I know that's not completely what your comment was about but I was surprised to learn that, that was really interesting to me
@@JustLuckyVR yeah it's running Steam OS 3.0, a modified version of Arch Linux... and the fact that the steam deck doesn't work on VRChat anymore 100% hammered the nail in the coffin.
@@JustLuckyVR yep. It's actually kind of awesome. I was able to jump to desktop mode to add some mods to NeosVR and then jump back to Steam's UI. It's basically a portable PC with a really nice front end UI.
Its a good step, but alot of the people I know are saying that they wont be coming back. Not just from how things were done, but also the risks and history of using EAC. Not to mention if they are putting all of this through this fast, it hurts their image imo of how slow everything has come out in the past.

In their defence they’re saying they’re rushing the stuff to release not that it’s actually tested and ready which could be a total cluster.
Sad that this has happened at all to be honest. VRC implementing EAC hasn’t damaged my opinion of vr as a platform but the communities attitude has.
@@LukeRoberts-Faulkes Can't blame the community for being pissed when the devs put out a statement saying "we know this means many of you won't be able to play... We're pushing it anyways". They could have waited to push EAC until these features were done. They could have handled this very differently. But they went the most rushed route with EAC they could. It was not tested well. Even non modders are having a bad time with this update. This scenario, paired with lack of transparency and other issues the devs have had in the past has driven the nail in the coffin for many. People don't want to deal with incompetence and you can't fault them for that.
@@SnaxMang all totally valid points however doxing, death threats and review bombs that aren’t exactly constructive ways to show displeasure though regardless of what was done.
Accessibility features should have been implemented before hand it’s not as simple as it seems. Also as a note I’m one of the uses that have been scapegoated… EAC isn’t idea but still useable at this point at least for me.
@@LukeRoberts-Faulkes Can't really throw the doxxing and death threats on the whole of the community that are upset. That ain't a VRC community thing. That's a "wasn't raised right and has internet access" thing. That's in every community. You could sneeze near an ant and some chucklefuck is gonna try and dox you. I will say that sometimes in certain situations, review bombs are about all a community can do. Not just for games but for products in general. Considering companies don't *have* to listen to their audience and can do whatever, I think it's healthy for consumers to show mass distain when it happens. That goes for any product. Boycots exist for a reason. Also I don't know what you mean by you were scapegoated. As far as EAC, besides longer loading times, I haven't been false flagged by it yet. (On VRC. Other games with it have tagged me for no reason.) My friends, however, even the non modders, are having issues across the board. Virtual Desktop problems, issues with lesser known headsets, issues verifying files and the typical EAC false flags. Modding discourse aside, this update was very rushed compared to how flawless some of the devs said it would be. Funny enough, they've since deleted those posts.
It really bothers me that it took this much of an upset for the developers to finally start implementing a lot of these features. Some of these features have been on their canny for years with practically no response from the devs, which is why people modded them into the game in the first place
Same, I have been up voting these same feature requests when I STARTED VRCHAT. ChillOutVR is better and more open with the community, moders and creators
Things I’ll miss in modded vrc so far:

3: personal flashlight/headlight
4: instance history
5: player history
6: loading screen changer
7: Forced Reload on infinitely loading world
8: “Risky Functions” (obv. this probs won’t come back, but I’ve used it for my fair share for non malicious purposes)
9: Fast player rank identification
10: personal player/friend join/leave notification
… I’ve stopped counting at this point.
Oh and I think personal clock on the main menu as for the 11th, but who’s to care at this point?

@@deadlydam basically it’s a quick qol where instead of going to your launch pad to read if someone is a visitor or trusted member, their name plate itself will be tinted a certain color naturally so you can tell faster, as visitors would be gray, new users are blue, friends are yellow, etc. Alternatively, you can change these colors if you want for personal preference. Saw someone who changed them all pink because why not?

I think I have the same opinion as everyone else. These things should've been done and rolled out first and EAC should've been added after. Also, they should really have an extremely visible and simple path to submitting mods to be officially approved and implemented. The whole game is community driven content and having a method for people to implement the things they think would make the game better for them would continue that long-standing tradition.
There is nothing they can say or do that will get rid of the fact that they were (and probably still are) literally censoring our criticism.
An excellent step forward I must say. Shame they did not implement these first before coming out with the EAC. I would wish they add a function to search for avatars like what chilloutvr has.
Obviously as long as avis are made public of course.
It would undoubtedly be great if that's how time worked. But sadly, you have to get the time first, and only then you can spend it. If all of your time goes to dealing with reports and tickets, it's kinda hard to spend time developing the game.
Searching for public avatars for friends and myself is one of the mods i used the most before the update, I would like to see this in the future of vrchat as well
as a person wh omakes avatars from scratch i think they would have to add a sort of "halfway" public option first for that to work out well
basically because its currently impossible to share an avatar with a single person or small group without needing to either share the files with them or straight up log into their accounts.
basically this means i have several avatars that are "public" but was never meant to be used by the general public
Again, this is promising and will guide some people back in but the damage has been done to their most loyal parts of the fan base. I can give several reasons as to why.
1. Half of these ideas came from modders. Whilst we have no proof of them taking the code, we can assume it was at least partially taken as all mods are open source and no credit has been given by VRChat.
2. As stated before, all of this should have been implemented before EAC was even talked about.
3. The sudden burst of updates does seem highly suspicious considering how long it took any major updates to come before this, and now they are apparently all nearly ready to go?
4. The biggest problem was the PR response. Given the community's obvious anger, it feels as if we were kicked to the kerb. Numerous undeserved bans from the Discord server, seemingly no one acknowledging how important mods were to the life of the game and outright slamming mods as purely malicious makes it seem like the company is either ignorant at best, or uncaring and malicious at worst.
Can they recover? We shall see but I fear the ling term damage has already been done.
why would you assume they're taking the modders code? what would at all make you think that
@@Charlie59876 Because we had no sign of these features on the horizon and all of a sudden they are ready to ship within a week. Add on to that that all mods are open source (I.e. the code is able to be seen) and it seems to make sense.
As I say, we have no proof but given previous actions, I would not put it past them.
Well there is a rumor that a dev in vrchat gave gta 5 a negative review for having horrible support against mods

@@larsoftheredhotlovers6220 they already stated alot of the features were already being worked on, and theyre also rushing things. Alot of the features in the open beta have bugs that arent even prevalent in the mods as well, i dont think they would manually add bugs
A footstep in the right direction, but only driven by an entire freight train colliding into the people taking that step. No wonder, they were the ones that strolled onto the tracks with all the railroad crossing signs flashing and the crossing bell banging in front of them.
Amazing that they survive the encounter, much less attempt to walk away.
Thanks for making this, i’m super new to VRC community and didn’t really know too much about what was going on. I wanted to see where this whole situation goes and what it means for me, so this really helped :)
honestly its amazing seeing the devs take the criticisms people had to heart.
The biggest thing in my opinion is they are interacting with users again and letting us know of things being worked on instead of "SUPRISE EAC"!! They are letting us know about things from these "feature jams" (honestly want to know more about this). And i even saw one of the devs in the discord's "open beta discussion" channel talking with people, helping them when something was confusing, and even directly taking feedback!
I was never angry with them adding anti-cheat (heck it needed one for a while), i was angry with how they treated the community and how it was handled.
They seem to have learned from it, but for now im going to be cautious. I don't know how much of this is genuine and how much is them in a panic trying to pick up the pieces.
Only time can tell, but at this moment at least i can see its headed back on the right track.
as for the features themselves:
The text-speech tool is going to be amazing, and fun for non-mutes too as you can install funny voices like peter griffin.
The avatar distance thing is GREAT addition. for the "too many of them issue" if they don't want to deal with transparency perhaps just add a slider under the option to change the scale of said placeholders. (if its crowded and you want to see, just set the place holder to be small. if you still want to keep track of everyone in say a pub/game world, just leave it normal sized).
The "convo dome" has to be one of the best idea's that isn't just a general feature (as in its basically a wholly new idea)! its the PERFECT tool for a problem i hear echoed by many of my friends. "you can hear anything in crowded worlds because everyone is talking" (personally i dont mind).
My favorite though, is the home world types. why? because i remember the days of a hub everyone loaded into. it was so much fun watching people come/go about their business. Honestly i hope the "public" home world type loads you into a public instance to regain that feeling of a semi-busy hub =]
FSR or DLSS in game officially would be incredible and would get me to re instate my subscription in all honesty, especially with new render distance and particle limiter
I've heard a lot of people talking about AMD FSR lately, it seems like something that a lot of people want added to the game. I hope it happens

I'll believe it when I see it. I'll probably stay off VRC until they are implemented and tested. Of course, since my system barely meets the minimum specs, if EAC causes FPS issues then I may not go back at all.
Even though I have a pretty decent computer, performance (in specific scenarios) is something i've noticed a change in since the update too, whether it's because of EAC or because of lack of optimization mods i'm not sure but I totally understand what you mean.

We all know they will just add stuff until we more calm then we won't get any updates for years and i still think we need searching public Avatars normally and by author and it being sorted by date

It would be cool if you could "muffle" those muted from the solo option, so everyone else gets a low-pass filter, so you can still kinda hear them, but it's just kinda of a dull muffled sound, like they were in the next room

Just wanted to hop in and say you make for a great figurehead (literally too with that panda head lol). You encourage open discussion and deliver all the details perfectly with your own thoughts sprinkled in. In a way it is comforting to watch. Keep it up with the VRChat development updates! I am also curious to see how you branch out into your own ideas once this all blows over.

wait, so I've never played on quest, does standalone quest not have a stream camera at all? Just a photo camera?

The "Solo" functionality is extremely important and useful. This is indeed a step in the right direction, especially if implemented properly.

I'm happy you enjoyed my video! From what I heard the quest 2, even for a PCVR set up, is really impressive. I've only ever had one headset and it's the Vive Pro, I'm a pretty big fan of it but I would definitely consider buying index controllers at some point because those things seem super cool.
Overall I'm really glad they're making so many helpful changes to VR Chat, looking forward to the updates. I use a Quest 2 VR Chat app and I also use Quest 2 as a PC VR headset with Steam VR to play VR Chat on PC. I pretty much prefer playing VR Chat on PC due to more options. I only hop on VR Chat on Quest 2 when I want to explore quickly. Edit: Overall, I find it pretty sad it took backlash for them to implement these features quickly. I just hopped on VR Chat only a few times because I'm a new VR user who got a Quest 2 recently but from what I found out, apparently it's been requested for a long time and it got added recently. It gave me the opportunity to explore Neos and Chill Out VR.

I feel about the same as you. I've always wanted to be good no matter what even if I don't care for it so I've never used custom clients, but at the same time it felt like something was missing and it kinda hurt to see the devs just seemingly not care. I hoped it would all be fine because VRChat is probably my favorite game besides Satisfactory and I have a lot of time in it. I'm really happy to see the devs are finally listening to us and considering what we really want or need. For me the biggest feature is probably the audio settings and UI overhaul. I kinda hate the current quick menu, and am happy it's being reworked. I also get overloaded with too much audio really quickly so being able to adjust settings is a life saver for me! ^^
Another Satisfactory lover! Hell yea! I definitely know what you mean, I'm happy that they are going to be adding so many audio related options. I'm also really excited for the new Menu 2.0, even though we only got a very short viewing of it so far it looks like a good upgrade!

Solo audio was a client feature at one point but was broke by vrchat changing to were if some has u mute or not on server instead of being handled by client as in witch side its the option is processed on

i think its nice theyre finally doing all this but its a shame theyre doing it AFTER the EAC aswell as needed all this pressure and chaos to even do that. the damage is already done and theres no saving the now inevitable decline of vrchat. this is just vrchat trying to save their ass and i believe they are going to fail. a massive (mostly adult) population of vrchat migrated and they wont be coming back or recommending vrchat to anyone aswell as modders and people who love modding and creating for games. vrchat is still so far behind compared to other social vr platforms and they fucked up by handling things the way they did. they cant fix it anymore

Something I have noticed with some updates is they’re adding some things from other mods
I really hope the solo volume thing also deafens everyone else or has an option to, so I could have quick private conversation or tell personal secrets in a public without having to go through discord or running all the way across the room.
Honestly them adding all these features that were previously mods, is great. But this just proves that all these features have been possible for a while now. And clearly people have been asking for for a long time.
However, that does not restore any trust they obliterated with the community, with the way they handled adding EAC to the game. Ignoring people, banning anyone who criticized it, and just completely locking off the steam update post from comments, because they knew people would complain about it. Their response to this was just one big middle finger that said "We hear you, but fuck you we don't care about you or the community".
Now that mods can't be used, they have all the excuse in the world to just steal the code from the big mods out there and put them in the game themselves. But this is literally just damage control. It's all it is. They could of done these things a while ago, but now that they fucked up so hard by adding EAC and got all this backlash, they are panicking and trying to put a bandage over it.
It's honestly disgraceful. They don't care about the community. And they proved that themselves.
And I didn't even touch on the risks and negatives of even having EAC in the game. Reduced performance, higher risk of crashing, stuttering problems and more.
i was playing prison escape in a public server and a kid was annoying 1 person specificly just because he was a cartoon character( i forgot which one but i think it was a disney character) then the kid put down a portal to the kitchen game and another guy accidently went into it when he turned around( the kid put the portal right behind him) so the portal thing is gonna help a lot

It's an arms race now. But for the holder of the VR community.
It looks good to see that and it is promising and i hope its followed through with. although I'm not sure if id want to re go into VRC. If they would be able to do all this so fast why did they not do it until all of this controversy, it's been five years after all. it feels like the only way for them to get into action was to lose a lot of players which is a slap in the face. the VRC modding community has decided to go to chill out VR instead to which is amazing because they are willing to work with the modding community. Something VRC should've done instead of alienating them as they fixed so much that VRC hadn't. and that's something to be thankful for not something you punish them for in my opinion. Chill out may not be as good as VRC at the moment but i see a lot of promise as do many with plenty of things in base game that even VRC does not have like flight. I'm glad VRC is getting into action but in my opinion its just to late to finally be doing all the adding of features that have been wanted for so long.
For me personally, I still really just want the state of VRChat to get better because I love VRChat as a game. BUT I also think that it'd be incredible if ChilloutVR also became wildly popular to create competition in the space, hopefully resulting in both games becoming better all the time.

I've heard that mod for the deaf was created in secret by a malicious modder and when EAC came out he threw it onto the fire to fuel hate towards the VRC team I did find this info of reddit so take it with a grain of salt

bc not everyone can make their own avatar worlds, so it would be nice to have that feature since the search bar is ALREADY there
Until they either remove EAC or add in an Avatar Searcher, I'm still not going in for long ever again. The damage was delt and until they realize their dumb mistakes, they're still gonna have a lot of money lost for a long time

What i'd wanna see is to be able to hide people's fallback avatars.
Sometimes there's someone with an avatar that has tons of polygons and sometimes their fallback avatar has the same problem.
so for my self i will still play but i am going to be playing chillout vr and neos alot more. One of the things that pissed me off with this update is there is evidence of them stealing code
it sounds like they are going to fix everything for the mute community when it comes to the mods that they removed, it all sounds awesome i cant wait until its done and i cant wait to get my new cord so that i can get back into vrc !
I don't know if I'm bypassing it but it's not running in task manager apparently when I reinstalled VR chat it asks me if I'm giving permission to easy anti-cheat to modify the hard drive I just said no and the game launched

I find it interesting that they were able to make code in 4 days and implement it but couldn't do it in 4 years? This is not how a company should work.
All of this sounds amazing. I just can't get over the fact that they purposefully implemented an "anti-cheat" system that can be easily bypassed and took time out of developers lives to add. All for nothing

I think its good they are at least making all this effort to fix the game and address the issues, sure it took a bit to get them to listen, but they are listening now. I want to see how this will help the game.

i feel like there could be plenty more done, i dont know if ill leave or stay, my friends are moving to chillout but that has its own issues as favorites requre rebooting to show, major framerate issues due to my outdated gpu, and at least on my headset (CV1) I have severe issues trying to grab objects, often not working or just letting go after 2 seconds despite me not letting go yet (also the controls are a bit wonky); on the other side, vrchat is a hot mess with lots of deleted accounts (which means worlds and avis too), most of my friends no longer being online, and not enough done yet to ensure safe gameplay, plus with my pc already struggling im concerned about the extra weight of a anticheat with no preformace enhancing mods.
Ill wait out the storm and see which becomes the lesser of two problem filled games, personally i wish they'd just remove the anticheat untill they improve the game enough to replace what they blocked, but that wont happen and it leaves me and many others in a limbo between vr games getting more and more heavy and demanding on our older hardware.

i'm glad they doing it...but not for HUGE others, VRC gave a huge .50 cal hole in the metal, like they update with a ban aid to "'FIX" the hole... almost 30k thumbdown review since the recent update DID not help...

Do you know what feature would be cool too? Some features for people with very bad internet. For example, me. I have a 3 MBit connection. I'm downloading with around 300 kb/s. Features to give much more control about the downloads in VRChat. Especially avatar downloads. Features like: Hide *ALL* avatars in advance, a "do you want to download this avatar?" check for already shown friends or people when they change their avatar pretty often.
Also there is something what annoyed me for very long. If an avatar is loading you can't cancle the download. You can hide the avatar, but it still continue downloaded the avatar in the background. In the meanwhile it isn't even in the background. Now when the avatar is hided it still shows the download bar. The only thing to cancle the avatar download was to hide the avatar(s) and rejoin the world. Very unconfortable. This is my experience so far.

I don't care what they do. EAC has taken away the freedom for the community to modify the game for themselves. You can never ever trust a game development team to have exactly what the community needs. And VRChat does have worthy competitors like ChilloutVR and having already lost so much of the community, this is our chance to abandon them for a dev team that just trusts its community enough to mod their game. I think that it could be really good for both games if ChilloutVR does grow up into something bigger because that creates some competition in the space that could lead to both games getting better and better all the time
chilloutVR even hired modders. so that's pretty amazing.

i can still use text to speech with using google translate but it takes longer and doesnt automaticly do it lol

how come theres too much "cruft" for vrc's menu, but emm had it figured out, aswell as favcat. also, it is a long known fact that eac and proton dont work well together. the dev team did this anyway.

They forgot the avatar search feature which I’m hoping they at least make it part of vrc+ at some point.
I am very thankful that the VRC dev team decided to do this daily, or even weekly would've been good. Because doing it like this might just convince a chunk of the player base to stay. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks of this, but i'm pretty sure that if they had continued like they usually do, it would've resulted in VRC eighter entirely, or very nearly dying.

To me its nice to see really great they are adding all these things. Sadly killing off large communities and doing it so fast without much warning is a big no no. So many people was and still is hurt by this and they say they took time to think this over yet release it in like a day even after backlash. Even with this im still really unsure if I can trust the devs given the past they take forever to release anything. If they do release all this stuff super fast why was it not added sooner before. Its like they are giving me a house after they blew up my town. Just hard to be happy about anything they do anymore it really hurts too since I love VRC and the community. I guess a good think was other options are given a chance to grow like Chillout and Neos and competition is great stops devs from being lazy and great overall for everyone.

Well, I think that pretty soon we will have all of the features down. But I'm sure someone will find something to complain about. As for me, I think these are great changes!

I think this would just cause a vibration effect with your controllers when you touch someone, I think a haptics suit is different because it can have more immersive touch but also anywhere not just your hands

We all know they are only adding these now because they got rid of the mods that filled the spaces for them
They need to add in native 3rd person and camera for desktop users. I have full VR but no one wants to fucking climb into vr every time they play.
True I play in desktop a lot and also used 3rd person very often
some of these "added features" are just copy paste of what the mods were, down to the summary of what that feature is
i wouldnt be supriced if people dug into the code and found that it will literally be copy paste code from the github mods
also the damage was done, this dev update literally proves that they intitially didnt plan to do any of this stuff and they admit it themselves, these fatures have been asked for forever and its only now getting addressed? it shows that they simply never cared about doing anything about it until people started mass canceling their VRC+ and quiting
its cool that there adding all the moded features to the base game but they still killed off the moding community for vrc

when it comes to safety settings, if they copy paste i think its called the munchion client or something, you can not be crashed. sure that client was malicious but my friends who had it never got crashed cuz the safety and the anti crash on it was too good for them to be crashed ever, even when they showed someone's avatar they couldn't be crashed by them, literally just copy paste that client's safety
No no-clip, no super speed, no flying, no teleporting... why can't we get these features? They were so much fun. I would add it to the game. World creators can have an option if they want these features turned off.
It just seems like they’re adding these features so they can say that they’re “listening” to the community and go back to what they’ve been previously doing from what other people have been saying and just kicking moders to the side labeling essentially the whole moding scene as “harmful and nonessential” to people not in the knows of what they’re are and hoping that they stop using them as a whole
