    I experience another trend. There are to many young men between 25-35 to can’t find suitable women. So divorced women are highly popular because they are most in western countries economically undependent.
    So I think at that time it was acceptable and sometimes necessary to practice polygamy. But nowadays society has changed, women and men have changed. So it’s not practical anymore. Despite that many relationships get together in pure love and not because women need men to care for them financially. And that’s also beautiful for a men to know he is chosen in pure love because of him not because the woman need a men to provide for her! 🙏🏻✨

      You have a good point, but have you ever been to a refugee camp? There are many women/widows/single mothers who could benefit from being married, even as a 2nd,3rd,or 4th wife...the amount of war, famine, limited resources, etc make polygamy a good counter measure for all times, past, present and future.

      Islam is not declining tho. It’s the second largest religion and it’s constantly growing. I don’t get the idea of having to marry a married man because there “a declining population”. It just devalues ur wife by marrying whoever simply to “care for them”. You can care for someone without marrying them, give donations to them and their family if that’s how much they care. But marriage allows intimacy and care that should only be shared between one husband and wife.

      @@nishat_8605 You miss the point. A marriage is a contract. If marriage with up to 4 wives is in the Quran there is nothing but good.
      Why make a woman a charity? What kind of love is based on physical satisfaction?
      If I read your reply correctly you have limited the institution of marriage to a sexual act. Marriage is the backbone of a community. The first line of defense. Blessed is the man who can protect 4 women in these evil times.

    Great lecture! I believe polygamy is stigmatised because men abuse it. Instead of being extremely wary of transgressing Allah's laws for polygamy and treating it as an added responsibility, they disregard it and use it their own advantage. Polygamy in Islam is a benefit for women, but a challenge for men. This is why Allah repeatedly told men in the Quran to stick to monogamy if they fear injustice, and at another instance, Allah ordered men to avoid putting themselves in difficult position regarding women. This is GOD HIMSELF acknowledging that it is not easy for a regular man to uphold the dignity of polygamy.
    Great efforts by Thaqlain! My go-to channel for Islamic lectures. Hoping to see further expansion on such difficult topics.

    Islam does not permit polygamy ( with M ), which means multiple husbands and wives , but it permits polygyny ( N ), which means multiple wives only. Please correct the term.

      @Thaqlain it really does not clear Moses had 2 wives or he was referring to the same wive he had. So it's just a speculation.

    • @Thaqlain
      @Thaqlain  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Indeed. But it does hint that he had another wife. And that's precisely the speaker's intention here: that the idea itself is well founded.

    In America, there is polygamy either the spontaneous way or the organized one.
    You can easily find a married man with " a girlfriend " or even more than one of those. You can also find a man " LEGALLY married to one woman and have another wife. Everything is fine. Unless something goes wrong. For instance, if someone complains about something related to this subject, it can easily bring the case to the legal system.

    Asalamualikum, I don't think you'll find that the blessed Prophet Moses had a 2 wives in the Bible but Jewish tradition does have this belief. It honestly makes no difference to me but thought I'd put that out there for anyone who might discredit this scholar.

    Why should marriage only be for rich men....because women dont want money they want happiness...The problem is theres no justice in polygamy for women today....nabi saw visited all his wives daily...women alone every second day,single mothers half of our lives...we want love and affection too...men get sex everyday while women having a husband being alone every second day,whats the point all women in polygamy alone moat of the time.
