5:21 True. Gaps in trackside barriers are for the convenience of yard workers so that they have easy access to both the rails and the pavement while accomplishing their jobs. Thanks for leaving all of your legacy Geneva Sub layout videos posted. It's nice to come back and revisit them from time to time when I'm feeling nostalgic. Cheers
Daryl,There are 2 Intermodal trains that pass through Southern California each day. B.N.S.F. All J.B.Hunt containers. The U.P. train is all green containers, E.M.P. or Hub Group. The containers on this train are all in blocks. E.M.P. at the front end Hub at the rear. No mixing. It's come all the way from Chicago. On line wags refer to it as the " Green Machine" or the white wall and green wall. Mosetly Intermodal trains are a mixture of containers. Sometimes I think you could turn the study of Intermodal trains in to a hobby all by itself. Cheers, Chris Perry.
So in my yard only place we have barriers is a single truck lane by road ability for the chassis. Im sure every yard is different in there own ways. Once i get the space i will be replicating my yard for my layout. Living in a apartment i have no space at all. All in all tho i think your ok with the barriers

The extra cars your not using scrap them. If you have any extra locomotives scrap them. If you have people standing around get rid of them. Do that and you’ll have the new UP, KCS, CSX,NS. Lol the layout is really nice.
Global 3 located south of Joilet, Illinois? I heard that they were going to close this intermodal hub? I love intermodal operations! I'm planning on building a large container yard/trailer yard auto rack yard on my future layout. Total yard length about 25 feet long. Big intermodal yard to supply my 18 foot long container port! I have started building a small 6 foot container ship, but I just might turn that into a full size Panamanian SuperMax container ship? A true HO size container ship is about 15.5 feet long and 2 feet wide and 1.5 feet tall, I believe! 3 or 4 2 foot tall container cranes will be built to load/unload the ship.
Let me start my saying that is the best yard I have seen yet. Awsome. I am looking for ideas as I am going to start a yard. I was going to say.... If you are that set on realism you can give me the JB hunt containers I,ll buy them.
Interesting idea. I think I saw some guardrails on Shapeways. There is the point that I have too many barriers. I am not going to glue anything down until I am completely confident in their placement and number.
If you still want to get rid of those JB Hunt containers or any thing in N scale i’d be interested in having them. So if that still an option please message me and I will get back to you. Awesome layout I love it. Take care have a good day.
The reason some trains are mixed and others blocked, is because of either the boat that brought them: some ships will bring containers from other companies’ inventory as the shipper only had those cans available, or because they had a few hot containers that needed to go and they just combined those well cars with other consists.
Ken Rosser isn’t something like that how the Crazy 8’s situation happened?? Or is there an engineer in the cab and another guy riding to throw switches?
Just a heads up, I dont believe BNSF has full exclusivity for JB Hunt movement. I live in Cincinnati and just shot a large CSX intermodal last week that was majority JB Hunt containers running thru Northern Kentucky and have seen them running in the area for a couple years. Maybe its because we have a major JB Hunt hub in the area? But I have been looking for months for JB Hunt Containers with no luck to go with my NS/CSX layout. I just want a couple. So I will definitely be paying attention to your channel more to hear if you do a giveaway. That would be awesome. But nice setup, very good details and layout flows nicely and you explain things very well.
