My goodness, a magnificent pipe emporium to behold! What a splendid assortment of lovelyness. Thanks for another generous slice of briary goodness! All the best
Blackbird Piper ...one of our most favourite cities, we went 3 times in a year. Haha. Definitely stop by Novelli, as you can see the customer service is top notch and their prices are very reasonable! Have an excellent trip!!! ✈️😁
That Castello pipe at 9:35 is amazing. They have a lot of awesome pipes and one hell of a shop. Thank you again for all these wonderful tours. Have a good'n.
It is a pleasure and an honour to see you have enjoyed your travel in the capital of my Country and that Novelli and Fincato both took care of you Peacheys properly living up to their names...and I hope you have found other beautiful things to see other than pipes in Italy too... :) Thank you for sharing and for your appreciation...
Grazie, grazie!!! 😊We absolutely love Italy. This was our 2nd trip to Rome...in a year. I, Mrs. Peachey, am part Italian so naturally want to visit as much as possible...so much to do and see, it's never ending. Grazie per le gentili parole...☺️
I would have to save up for several years before I could take a trip like that. Not only would I need transportation and housing, but I would drop a small fortune at Novelli's. Their pipe selection is staggering! And they also sell fountain pens, which is another of my passions. Combined, it would be far more temptation than I could resist.
Hello Frank... I’m a graphic designer and I thought my Rapidograph’s were good pens, haha! Quite amazed by pen collecting and love looking at them, now buying them that would get me into serious trouble. Novelli is just one of the shops not only for the selection but the superior service...it means so much when people take the time and are patient with you! 😊Cheers, Anna
...don't worry we got 2 of the Savinelli's for 35 euros, including the 320...plus 2 other pipes! 😁 We love Rome, the city always calls us back and the service at Novelli is outstanding! Hope you are doing amazing!!! Cheers! 💥⚡️
Wow.... so many pipes! Amazing... I saw so many I would have wanted. As for the basket pipes, you should have got that Author shaped Savinelli 320 you first picked up. I definitely would have snagged that one. But wow, thanks for sharing. Was really enjoyable to watch. I'd LOVE to go to a pipe shop in Italy.
Right on! And I agree completely! I absolutely love the Savinelli 320 (author shape). Definitely one of my favorite pipe shapes. I have one, but mine is a rusticated black one with a silver band in the Trevi line of Savinelli pipes. :)
kornfreak78 We have been after that shape & could not believe our luck when it was just sitting there on top calling our name haha, it's funny because it is just around the corner from the famous Trevi fountain which is where I had to have my first smoke of it 🤘💀🤘
Thanks for the video, I spotted my beloved Amphora tobacco on the shelf! Even the one in the green pouch that Nova Piper is always looking for! I was wondering what straight Kentucky would be like, probably knock me out!
I am Italian: I live in Rome. I smoked Golf, but that's not much. Much better is the one I call the "Holy Trinity of Italian Tobaccos" (all three of which make the Golf): (in order of power) Forte, Comune, Italia. They are natural or slightly flavored tobaccos, all strictly in Kentucky tobacco produced in Italy. I smoke them either in Savinelli or in Missouri Meerschaum.
Another great video; Man I could have spent hours there. They had an immense selection. Sadly I never found this shop where is it about? Love the intro to this set of videos...really takes me back. Take care and safe travels.
Hi Wayne! Novelli is in the Fontana de Trevi area. If you do get back to Rome, make sure you do stop in...truly lovely people. Huge thank you for your kind words! ☺️😊
I don't know why but seeing the drawers full of pipes come and go and all the glass counters and shiny stuff made me think of when my wife was picking out her wedding band before we got married. I think I'd have about the same experience in that shop as she had in the jewelry shops. I'd have to try out each pipe, even the ones I knew would be too much, you know, just to say I held it for a while. My selection would start somewhere around 12 pipes and I'd have to methodically compare all the things I liked and didn't like about each pipe. When it trimmed down to 2 or 3 pipes I'd start getting caught up in the moment of imagining the big day when I'd be smoking it for the first time and get all teared up in the eyes. Then, of course, I'd have to put the whole thing on hold until I make sure I know what tobacco I want to be smoking in it. Ha ha! That looked like a really fun time. I really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the gentleman assisting you had while showing you all the pipes and answering questions. Is that how it felt there, or just how it came across in the video. I think I would have been so overwhelmed in this type of situation that there's no way I could even imagine anyone being happy to be working with me, no matter how good at their job they are.
Believe it or not he was actually even more helpful and enthusiastic in person. In our experiences, not all pipe shops are that inviting or maybe a bit intimidating to others...but not here, just a bit overwhelming on choices. As I'm sure anyone who feels like a valued customer wants to spend their money where they are treated with respect on any price level. Hence why we went back 3 times and are planning to go again in August. Funny you used the wedding ring analogy, I have felt that way...I have even told Martin, we spend more time shopping for pipes than we did on our wedding rings. Pipes = the new jewellery. 😉
At 8:47, it sounds as if one seller is telling the other seller that once a price is quoted, that's the price that must be in order to pay the cost or make the profit. I don't know. I'm guessing as Italian is almost like Spanish. What did they actually say?
Maybe it's just me but I always find it difficult to associate Southern Europeans with pipe smoking despite the famous brands. Northern Europe I have no problem - Germans, Belgians, Dutch, Czech, Polish and up no problem. With Scandinavians it's practically compulsory. But France and down, no. Can only envisage them smoking cigarettes, cheroots, or cigars (way down south). Weird isn't it.

Thanks for the video, I spotted my beloved Amphora tobacco on the shelf! Even the one in the green pouch that Nova Piper is always looking for! I was wondering what straight Kentucky would be like, probably knock me out!

Italian is different from Spanish. We understand just some words Spanish say, but not all they say. Pronunciation is also different.
hi guys !!! ciao from italiaaaaaa.
so many beautiful pipes!!! how does a guy pic one lol
It's seriously impossible! Hence why we went back 3 times. Haha. 😃👍👍💥
Ah yes England and Texas, two amazing countries

Beerbeard Well it was France that first used briar to make pipes so they should be way in the front , VIVA LA BRIAR!! haha.
The Peacheys13 Hear hear! French briar all the way! Although... the Italian inventory there is reeeeal appealing.
