    I think there’s something symbolic to the cross still standing. All the fallen trees around symbolize the world trying to tear down the Lord, but he still stands, alone, waiting for us.

    When you cut the trees that came up out of the ground, make sure no one is near the roots. When the trunk suddenly gets lighter, the stump and short trunk may rebound back into the hole. Unfortunately one couple lost their young son when the stump flipped back. Please stay safe.

    Just a piece of advice from a family that lives in a rv. If the power goes out you can hook the lights up to a truck to keep the battery charged. That will run your furnace and lights inside the rv. As long as you have propane.

    Oh my! First I need to say that I was moved to tears when I seen that the cross had not been touched, very powerful and beautiful to see. Secondly I commend you two for your amazing attitudes and outlook during it all. I live in Southern Illinois and in 2009 endured a terrible ice storm that did serious damages to my home. I was a widow of only 3 years at the time, my husband was always the one who kept the calm for me and our daughter. So this ice storm was my first venture in trying not to lose it and remain strong for my daughter who was 12 at the time. It was a tough thing for me to do especially when I was told that it would be 2 to 3 weeks before power was restored. My friend and her husband came and took us along with our 2 little dogs to stay with them as they heated their home with wood. I was and still am so very grateful to them. Every winter since then I have panic attacks when an ice storm is coming for fear of it being that bad again. And now seeing you two and many others from Texas who took this in stride and went with the flow just makes me realize that it's high time I put my girl panties on lol People always say how strong I am but they just don't know that I'm far from it.
    I'm so glad that you posted this, it really hit the wake up call for me that yes once I had a bad time because of an ice storm but it could have been far worse. I will forever remember the things that you said for the next time I am faced with another ice storm. God Bless you.

    Only you guys who are going through a terrible time could do so with a smile. Living in the Deep South we have been through several hurricanes which left us for 3 weeks with no power or water and temperatures in the 90s just the opposite situation you guys are going through. • @blazerwilliams2260
      @blazerwilliams2260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ive been in both. The storm season and losing power when it's 90 plus degrees is absolutely horrible. Now being stuck with no power in snow and ice is nothing it's super easy. I keep wood stored for this reason because you can cook and also stay warm. I guess I should say esy for some, but there is so much of a difference between the two situations, I can do fine in this type of situation.

    • @duanehenicke6602
      @duanehenicke6602 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been through both. And i can tell you. Freezing temps, no electricity, and no water is worse. Now if i grew up where winters are harsh, i'm sure it would've been no bother. But i'm geared for the heat. It's how i stay alive in the Texas heat.

    I am in North East Texas. It was quite a week for sure... it was exciting at first and then the worry of busted water pipes in the house overtook the fun. Grateful we never lost electricity and water pipes were ok. Didn’t lose any trees or branches on the property. Lost water from Tuesday till Friday. But we prepared with buckets of water and had plenty of food and bottled water and firewood. Didn’t think through dirty dishes... lesson learned to prepare next time. 🙃 Grateful we prepared a week before the storm. It was beautiful but I am so ready for Spring now. All my chickens survived and my golden retriever is so happy the snow is gone. Texas can go from 0 to 60 degrees in one week🙃 Glad y’all are ok too. We never attempted to drive anywhere all week. Finally on Saturday we went to Whataburger ...🙂 Still boiling water. Definitely going to get a well drilled on the property after this experience. God is Good!!!

    I really thought y'all would have gone and got on one of the buses and ran its generator. My grandpa in Brazos County is cutting up his broken oaks and making firewood just-in-case this happens again next winter. If not, he said he would sell it and make a small fortune 👍🏼. They lost one of the water wells is all and my parents house had a broken water pipe coming from the up stairs bathroom to the laundry below, so that room got destroyed. My power in Collin County was like y'alls but I had made a trip to the store before all this hit and stocked up can stuff and water, that and a propane coleman stove kept me going. I had my bike stand in my living room and just rode my road bike to keep warm. Yep, we all survived SnoVid-2021 ✝️

    Living in Ohio we get the cold, snow and Ice. I really like the ice storms but not when it causes power outages and loss of heat. I am glad to hear you are doing good, and that things are getting better. In my part of Ohio we have had really cold temperatures and we are now getting above freezing.

    We have the best line men in the world. They help each other out and nothing is more beautiful then a line of trucks full of linemen after a hurricane. The bravest men I know. The store could have done hand written receipts been done many of times here after hurricanes. Then later adjusted the inventory.

    So sorry to hear of all your trees and the damage. We in Louisiana had a lot of what y’all experienced. Wife and I are so blessed to have neighbors like we have. I’m a 100% Disabled Vietnam Veteran and 76 years old and the wife is 73. Our power went out and we were cold and the 2d day neighbors came over and got the generator out of the garage and filled with gas and started it. We were getting the space heaters going and 20 minutes later our electricity came back on but water was still off. Took us 5 days before water was restored but we had plenty of bottle water. Our trees did not suffer to the existent that y’all’s did but we were worried, we have 2 sons in DFW are Keller and The Colony the son and family in Keller had the biggest problem with water pipes bursting and then electricity problems. Gonna cost $8,000+ to get it fixed. But everyone is safe, Praise God!!!

    This Does Not seem Normal is anyone else thinking this?? Just like the fires in Cali. Could this be what i’m learning about Man Controlled weather? We are Praying for you Texas🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. test the snow!!!!

    • @claudiavonbuening3867
      @claudiavonbuening3867 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The fires in Cali are a direct result of mismanagement. Until the mid 70s, there would be controlled fires. Clears out the undergrowth. Better for the trees, animals, people because then if fire happens, it is nowhere close to the size. Currently, you are not even allowed to move dead trees from the National Forest. That and the undergrowth is fodder for the fire.

      Terri Shepherd I'm with you on that, and I do believe you just might be correct on both assertions. I know you are about the California fires, especially after looking at all the evidence. Who knows what the future holds, we just have to keep our faith and focus on the good Lord above. He will see us through it.

    I am in North Texas. We survived this crazy storm with no power (Thank God for the wood burning stove!) and no water at our house. I was reminded of the blessings that some are to others through this... one man used his 4x4 to pull people out of ditches and up hills that their vehicles kept sliding down and refused payment for any of it (though many brought him gas cards, drinks, and food), people offering the use of generators to the elderly and health compromised, our local church never lost power or water and opened their doors to the community and one of the community members has a trailer smoker so people went and brought meats and veggies from their freezers and it became like a giant pot luck and people made coffee and hot chocolate, played cards and board games, and prayed together. A neighbor dropped off a bag of sand to spread on our porch for grip and we took them fresh roasted coffee beans. In the south we have a way of coming together and everyone working through things together.

    I have been praying for everyone in the south dealing with the mess of weather. In Minnesota it has been miserable and cold too but at least we are able to be a little more prepared than in your part of the country. I'm glad you have been able to get through it all with a great attitude.
    Take care and God bless. 🥰
