    Damn, the tombstoning of the coils is such a good technique to find bad mosfets!

    In the past I've wanted to replace a thermal pad or two in our laptops if I'm changing or replacing components, and clean things up while I'm in there. To date (though I haven't looked in a bit), I haven't found a source which tells me the appropriate thicknesses for a given laptop. Is this information available? We currently only use Dell laptops (which is why I'm asking you). You folks salvaged my own XPS some time back by having a replacement screen available, which was greatly appreciated. These days I spend my time consoling the little fella as he knows his EOL date is fast approaching this October.

    I know that you are editing your videos to keep them short but it is helpful and informative to show an entire procedure for any action rather than the abridged form that shows only the final second or two, For example, tombstoning of the inductors/coils. I know I would appreciate it if you showed the full length for at least one of the inductors and perhaps abridged only the remaining three. Same with the re-annealing. I know, too, that you have to consider the ever-shortening attention spans of viewers but considering that these videos appeal to a different breed of viewer (the DYI crowd) there may be little to no value in that perspective in this particular case. I really love your systemic approach, your well informed analysis and your careful technique. Keep it up!

    Good work as always :)
    Just was weird going for the first coils/mosfets with the last one having a plastic-y thing that's melted next to it, should've been an instant tell ;)

    Really enjoying these videos.
    Is it possible to replace a CPU or GPU if they are fried or are they not readily available or maybe too expensive?

      I'm pretty sure the GPU is soldiered onto the mobo. There was a video of someone changing it but I for got to click it. I don't know about the CPU. Do laptops have a CPU socket these days?

    So exactly what is it or which component is responsible for this motherboard which did survive even though that mosfet/driver went bad?
    Also. have you seen the scenario where the mosfet close to the CPU/GPU has gone but the CPU/GPU did not make it? If yes, what was the reason for the same motherboard to not survive then?

    Hi I'm wondering if you checked on the load side of the coils for a short to ground.

    Hi, I just have a note I want to say
    To these geniuses who make these devices, I think that this design of computers, especially the batteries inside the computer or device, is what leads to heat to the motherboard or all parts because there is a battery inside it, so this makes the air not enter or exit from inside it well and also it is a very narrow place
    Also, the heat of the battery, I think this is a wrong design, not in other PC devices Such as batteries that are in the back on the outside are better

    • @artmanrom
      @artmanrom 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      The heat doesn't come from the battery alone, especially for a gaming laptop, coming both from the CPU and GPU.
