He is from my home town. It’s really beautiful especially in the summer , you feel it’s the Hidden Shambala on the earth!! I highly recommend to tour in Summer months. Litang has very a rich natural resources so never had history of poverty. I was laughing myself when they say raised above poverty 🤣. I wonder how poverty line is considered in the narration.
His name is Tenzin which is common name for Tibetans. We share half name of our root guru Tenzin Galtso (Dalaï Lama’s half name). Kindly listen when he says his name in Tibetan clearly says Tenzin
(བསྟན་་འཛིན). Chinese people can not even pronounce or write in Mandarin Characters. There is definitely twist in plot 🥴.

Thats his Tibetan name. But Dingzhen or Tenzhin these kind of name are localized in Mandarin. Although these ethnic minorities have their own names, China is mainly Han nationality, so their names will be sinicized.
There is in fact Tibetan names like Tamding, also Tenzin but it's The 14th Dalai Lama's first name(Tenzin Gyatso), so I think it's kinda banned to be named after him in Tibet. He's pure Tibetan, from his way of wearing his cultural dress, him speaking Tibetan language and his lifestyle being a nomad.

I've been to Litang and have such fond memories of it. He is right about it being a place of great beauty but that the best part is the kindhearted people. When I was there with my brother, we seemed to be the only tourists and some sweet local girls wanted to be our guides and took us to the local monastery and to their home. Watching this made me miss it so much and long to go back there.
