Sgt Hanna 27th November 1921 - 7th June 1947. Sadly, died of TB having been discharged from the RAF due to his injuries in Dec 1942. RIP to an exceptionally brave man.
When I did my Sergeants course at RAF Halton I had to a presentation on a RAF VC recipient, I chose Flight Sergeant John Hannah VC. His actions were extraordinary.
Flight Sergeant John Hannah's grave is close close to where i live, which i have visited to pay my respects to him. Films like this are vital to keep their memory and those of the brave men and women who served along side them alive.
Bless their hearts. Laying down their lives for this nation & one another. No room or time for fear in those circumstances. Good training & a good kite, bless ol Barnes Wallace. Get the ol kite home. 18 yrs old & men before their time a lot of them. One of the features that came out of war. God help us these days?
It's been said that Hannah didn't get the post-war medical- and financial help that he needed after leaving the service: help that might have prevented his early death at age 25, in June 1947.

Flying Officer Connor DFC was killed while on a subsequent raid on 4th November 1940. He was 25.
Very nice to see SNCO's being allowed to talk in the presence of an officer. It would never be allowed now!
