What a wonderful video dude! U r completly insane. All the material of this video is incredible, you have a new subscriber here! Greetings from Colombia!
You talk fast and fluently. You do animations for better visual understanding. You keep it simple. You explain straightforward and easy to follow. Man i wish you best of luck with your channel and more subs. Oh and could you please also show the css for the .item class at 2:53 ? I wanted to build your example to follow through. :) Another question from 2:53 : Why are your numbers in the div.item containers are vertically centered? I'd rly love to see the magic behind that since in the .container div there is nothing doing that. :)
Ok, I bumped dislke. Bottom line for me, it was a wild ride. For each possibility in the grid you presented the options however whether long form or short form I was confounded as to "what do I choose and why". Additionally, as you went through all possible options / iterations / styles it took up 3/4 of the tutorial and left 1/4 for the actual "build a dashboard". Then you proceeded to code the grid/row options for the content, place the content, etc... all at a pretty breakneck pace that left me again wondering the "why" when choosing certain methods for layout. Great course, great content I think the answer in the end for me is your teaching style and my learning style or fundamentally at different ends of the spectrum. One thing for certain, I can save this video and come back as a css grid reference and probably will however, once again, with all the options when creating my grid and flow I didn't walk away feeling clear as to what to choose when. Anyway, thank you. Hopefully my comment is useful in some way if not, no matter, you've got a great subscription base and are putting out quality work.
Hi Jack, thanks for the feedback. I see your concerns, however it’s not as black and white as saying “use this option in scenario x” and “this option in scenario y”. There’s almost always more than one way to reach a desired end, with a deep understanding of each CSS Grid property the point is you’re able to then draw upon and use these different ways to build out elements and layouts. As to long and short form, the short form is just that: a shorter and quicker way to write out what would otherwise take you longer, there’s no real right or wrong, both options would get the job done. The main purpose of this tutorial is to teach CSS Grid in a complete guide, therefore it was necessary to ensure I covered all Grid properties. The builds at the end are an added bonus, and by that stage you should be able to grasp what’s happening. I have done a separate video on the channel where I build out the dashboard from scratch, perhaps watching that might help as well. Shame about the dislike, I hope you stick around and stay tuned to the channel anyway, there’s loads more content to come. Thank you.
@@DevDreamer Thank you! I'm back, and subscribed. Your willingness to simply engage me on the subject, etc... That trumps anything else I might have had difficulty with. Re above I see your point. Keep in mind, and it's probably wrong on my point? I type along with these things. I feel like (and I could be wrong) that if I enter / work through it while taking the lesson, I learn more. So, I create a file(s) on my Apache server here, fire up my editor and join in. In the type of flow we had going here? It was a challenge and very early I took my hands off the keyboard, and just watched. lol... Maybe, that's what's necessary in some cases but I've got to say, for me to have a complete experience with EVERYTHING you presented here? My other option is to step back through, and write in all the options you laid out, with comments, and comment out those things as we step through. At least in the end, I get a "working file" from this classroom session I can refer back to. My main goal is to always walk away with a deliverable I can reference later. As everyone says these days the number one thing about being in dev is knowing how to google. Yes, and no. First, I'd like to check my own Library and notes, before I go off looking elsewhere. Anyway, thank you, VERY VERY MUCH. Sub'd and looking forward to more sir. Oh and, took that ugly thumb back ;-)
Ok, 2:50 in and I have to pause for just a moment. From the comments below I will be well satisfied to go through this tutorial and will learn much. So far, I find the production quality and your instruction, top notch. There is only ONE thing that threw me off out of the gate. For the source/sample code in the beginning you paste it into the comments? Keep in mind, I have a GITHub account that I've not even begun using however? Man it's so easy for you to post to GIT, link here, and prrovide chapter iteration source as you progress through. I'm confounded as you have a full HTML and CSS tutorial above but you haven't saved/posted sources for the courses (poet, yeah)? Anyway, thank you for your work. I'm diving in and certain I'll learn much however, if you get a moment would you share why you haven't done this? I am interested as it's such an easy way to order content and provide resources for your students. Lastly, it's pretty much what everyone, whether University MOOC or individual YTuber is doing these days. THANKS!

it was sooo useful. thank you ma man
Ok, 2:50 in and I have to pause for just a moment. THANKS!
Hi Jack, thanks for your comments. The main reason for this is because I have plans to possibly make this a membership perk on the channel. Thanks
