      I have ADHD, like Lee Mack (and Stephen Fry and Rhod Gilbert and Russel Howard and Sue Perkins and Johnny Vegas).
      My brain is chronically understimulated, and I have had insomnia my whole life.
      As an adult, I have found it helpful to listen to things that I am familiar with and find entertaining on repeat.
      If it were boring to listen on repeat, my brain would get too bored and become alert again, leading to an endless cycle of insomnia.
      But if it was too entertaining or stimulating, my brain would hyperfocus and become fully alert, leading to an endless cycle of insomnia.
      WILTY is the perfect combination of comforting and stimulating for me.

    • @nicosmind3
      @nicosmind3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They thought she was lying cause most people know that Costa Rica is a country and not in Spain. The trick is working out the odds that Sara isn't one of those people at her age (or rather the age she made the mistake) and then guessing on how plausible that is. Basically if they thought she was lying they assumed she was more knowledgeable than what she was. If she was 17/18 when she made the mistake I would have increased those odds. Plus I've seen her on other stuff, she's not that bright, I would have increased the odds again.

I'm thinking winkleman is david's ex spouse and probation worker guy is winkleman's brother who is a very sketchy professor at a university. he plagiarizes and never properly prepares for his courses and steal other professor's presentations david is also a professor and they work at the same university. winkleman is a nice normal lady and david was too boring for her and they decided divorcing before waiting for hating each other and resenting each other. winkleman moves in with her brother who is too all over the place in contrast of david but she doesn't want to be alone and move out and always make excuses because she knows deep down she doesnt want to move on and be with someone else because she loves david she will in time accept getting old and becoming boring. both david and winkleman actually fear it but winkleman was fighting it too much while david was over-accepting it and imposing it on winkleman and coping by doing so which pushed the couple away from each other. they will marry again eventually and happily live ever after.

      Brits use a passport to get on any plane, even internal flights, and I believe Costa Rica is visa 'free'. I am not sure if you still do the form on the plane, or its a tick box on booking the flight for the visa.
      When I flew abroad when a tourist visa was required, it was filled out 30 minutes before landing, if you got on the plane, you where getting into the country sort of thing, no going to the embassy to apply and waiting 3 months for approval that 'visa entry' would be presumed to mean.

    Geography is my strong suit, so I have a hard time grasping what an "average" person knows about geography, but I find it so hard to imagine someone getting through the entire booking process for this vacation without even *slightly* suspecting that they'd made a mistake.
    It actually bothers me how incorrect the base assumption is. There are so many well-known places that speak Spanish, that "Spanish name = Spain" doesn't even work as an excuse.

      It might if you're in the UK, since Spain is by far the closest country to the UK that speaks Spanish and is, I believe, a popular holiday destination for the Brits. So it really would be the first one to spring to mind automatically when you're making an ill-advised booking in a distressed state of mind.

    • @kami3000
      @kami3000 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think the assumption was not "Spanish name = Spain" but Spain has a lot of places called like "Costa Blanca", "Costa Brava", "Costa del Whatever", and those places are very popular amongst the average European traveller.

      I wish the panel would have asked how old she was when she made this mistake. For a 17/18 year old I can see it happening pretty easy. Like I would still put odds against it but even 1/5 still happens so not impossible. But mid twenties and older I'd really doubt it then ... Then again Sara ain't the brightest person out there so that increases those odds again

      I've always wondered if she just forgot how long the flight was. Direct flights are about 11 hours. If it were not direct, the airplane map wouldn't show the final destination as CR. So yeah, I agree it's unlikely. I also thought it was a lie at first because of that.

      @@peppeccino I presume that Danbury is referring specifically to the joke about Rob trying to pick up women which honestly... yeah, I kinda agree with. I love this show, but it is kinda frustrating to me how frequently they make similar jokes where the whole punchline is "man attracted to woman, lol". It's not really funny so much as just mildly uncomfortable. They've gotten much better about it in recent series, but in the older ones (and this one is at least 5 years old now) those jokes are constant.
      That being said, Danbury did seem to be saying the *whole* bit is misogynistic, implying everything about this particular statement from Sara, not just the joke about Rob. And if they really did mean it that way, I disagree there and am not sure where that is coming from.
