GTA IV had such a unique vibe compared to all of the other games. Later 2000s had a lot of games trying to chase the gritty, edgy, dark and dreary vibe. GTA IV wasn't too different in this regard. Lot of games went overboard with it, but IV really nailed it. Liberty City turned out to be a cruel place for our immigrant protagonist that was already trying to escape that life. What was supposed to be a fish-out-of-water tale was just more of the same violent world that Niko was already used to. He fit right into America and the American Dream. That is GTA IV.
i don't know maybe i like the dark tone of gta iv because it feels like the reality of my homeland but here is even shittier than gta IV lots of love for São Paulo in Brazil for all the bros in the southside
This is probably the most atmospheric loading screen ever made. I always thought of it more like the opening of a tv show opening like the Sopranos than a 'loading screen'. It COMPLETELY immerses you in the grimy world it's set in. Even if instant-loading is an option, I actually think R* should have it as an option to keep intro screens like this if they have such an amazing soundtrack.

I always preferred the console loading screens, mainly because they were representative of the world around the game, has a sense of mystery, but it's not out of place, even without context. It sets the tone very well for the game, and the soundtrack is just perfection
I find the PC loading screens to be really interesting. The contrast in colour between the background and characters make it look like people trying to live in a really dark world.

Only issue with doing that is when you hear the song in game, you now think of waking up in the morning. I had the deference for darkness theme from Halo ODST as my alarm for the longest time and it took a while for me to be able to hear that song on its own without thinking of waking up.
Niko being in an “out of the frying pan into the fire” situation always made me feel like this same situation similarly has happened countless time as the immigration in the New York is so high it definitely fits the tone for this theme
On XBOX 360 it loads (for me) from the beginning to the artwork of Brucie with the woman On XBOX ONE load from the beginning to the artwork of Niko in the car escaping from the police
