They spend more effort on their April Fool's updates than they do on normal updates.
Fr 💀💀
Because they can do random shit and don't need to bug fix. they can't do that I normal updates
Sad but true 💀
Because it doesn't feel like minecraft. It's alot harder to keepy minecraft like minecraft
They do more but not better
“Tries to outdo the last one”
That one April Fools update that was literally just a screensaver:
tbf as a screensaver enthusiast, it is one of my favorites
True. You can't outdo that
That's the thing. You were expecting something grand and complex, but what you got was a screensaver. They outdid themselves in the fooling department
@@lordzeus2056 or realized they can phone it in and their fanbase eats it up
I still use the screensaver... Honestly, out of the all the jokes, I've used this one the most.
nobody gonna talk about how the locked chest is a TF2 reference
I was boutta comment that yeah
I was looking for this comment
it is
looking for this comment lol
This was the comment I was looking for!
Fun fact: the locked chest was a reference to a then-recent Team Fortress 2 update
yeah it”s literally just mann co
and it's even funnier now that minecoins are a thing 😭

Next year april fools update: endermans can pickup players
No, you *WILL* get picked up by an ender man and you play the rest of the game as an ender man with a player in your hands.
@@Hamzurger thats just the last one but your hands are already full
would be kinda funny if you play multiplayer and your friend just gets grabbed and teleported
that's an actually good idea
Ayo
I love how they're kind of taunting us by showing that they are capable of making better updates but couldn't be bothered to.
They could make faster updates but it would be at the stability cost, if you want to roll the dice each update on wether you can play it then be my guest xd
Hey armchair expert why don’t you leave the management of the worlds biggest games to those that actually understand game design and who has experience with the game outside just playing it in their parents basement.
Edit while I went to far in my initial post in calling people out especially the last sentence, referring to where people live. I should’ve done that I was in a bad mood at the time, but I do think people wildly misunderstand the difference in effort modded Minecraft and the main game. Regular Minecraft is two entirely different games bedrock and Java that they are trying to keep as in sink as possible. I should say as some who is currently studying Computer Science Java is incredibly easy to mod among computer languages. While I can’t say the same for python which bedrock is built in. Also all but the most game advanced mods have to deal with glitches and bugs far more and far larger than what makes it in to Minecraft. Look at mine crafts bug tracker then think of any big mod and think of how many bugs more than likely exist in that mod that you just never noticed.
TLDR: your argument boils down to people cook for themselves and their families all the time so all personal chefs are extremely lazy.
@@galactorsus_i.n.c haha, yeah that's true.otherwise the updates would just be full of bugs.

I remember the one where everyone was a villager, I was so confused as a kid, oh the nostalgia
ME TOO
I saw dantdms video and was so confused so i just thought they all planned it in his video i never got an answer until now and it's nastalgic
Haha, I never played multiplayer so I had no idea I was a villager. But I heard all the villager noises 😂
When i saw it was 2014 my head went into a spiral. No way it was that long ago
I mainly remember it from SkyDoesMinecraft getting trolled during their crazy craft series cuz he spent half the video hearing voices and thinking he was losing his mind bcuz he forgot they were recording on April 1st despite everyone looking like villagers
The 2020 April fools update should be an actual feature (without literal netherite blocks generating)
2023 too
And maybe 2022 too
But they should be enable options when you create a world, so you wouldn't have all the feature without willingly choose to. Especially for 1 block at a time...
It should be togglable
It’s a bad feature, it only works in the context of a bullshit April fools update and wouldn’t work in the base game. It’s fun but it’d never be a polished idea
@@vee8101 it would because I would play it
I mean custom dimensions _did_ get added
and now the poisoned potato update in 2024
The very first April Fools update was based on the multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2, where you have a chance to randomly get a Mann Co. crate and need to buy a key from the Steam store to unlock it. It technically is a collaboration, because the developers of TF2 gave Notch his very own, one of a kind cosmetic in the game called “The Top Notch.”

Okay... A Minecraft set in space where you travel through different planets and meet new mobs actually sounds fun.

I think a 3D minimap would be cool to see in the base game
funnily enough, today is april 1st
The Villager News one was amazing
Yeah I remember that but I don’t know what year it was. When it happened I was so confused about it but I eventually loved it
The Steve Co. Is a reference to the Mann Co. Store, From team fortress 2
And this year we got the potato dimension
I will genuinely never forgive them for trolling us with vertical half slabs this year. THEY'RE 10 YEARS OVERDUE MOJANG!!
Me hearing the title "Mars Effect" as a Mass Effect player, "WAIT A GOD DAMN MINUTE."
and funny enough, from what I remember shortly after, the Mass Effect Mashup Pack was released for console
That Leonardo meme of him pointing at the TV
Wasn’t it originally called 0x10c or smth?
So excited for tomorrow! Can't wait to see what it's gonna be. I don't have to work so I'll get to be in on the early routing 👍
So what’s your opinion on it!
@@EvilNeuro It's a very unique idea. I was afraid that the fire launcher would be it, along with some others, so it's a very nice surprise to see that we actually get something to play with! We've been trying to see how we can get this version to have its own unique Speedrun, but with each vote coming after 8 minutes, all we have so far looks very vanilla. Hopefully we can find something we can use.
@@czx_ I think it’ll be perfect in servers
I mean there’s a server jar for it and some if the votes literally scream multiplayer
@@EvilNeuro Its definitely gonna be a super fun multiplayer experience
@@EvilNeuro Yeah. I've been playing it with my friend and it is MUCH more fun with multiplayer.
The first one with the "Steve Co" is an amazing reference to TF2.
Damn, didn't know Minecraft was in TF2 in 2011
Yeah notch loved tf2 so that is why! Lol
This is awesome, excited for tomorrow!
Edit: it's tomorrow
Edit 2: didn't play the April fools update, Hypixel skyblock is ruined
Edit 3: The April fools update got rolled back, and it sucked. I wish I could be like Jerry...

They never said that
@@FrostyFaz have you ever heard of the mob vote
@@rjbuie2961 that's apart of the update. For every mob vote, it's never just "one mob". Think camels, fish, breeze, frogs, etc etc. It is NEVER only one mob
One Block at a Time and the 1994 updates were my favorites personally.
I went to play Minecraft today, I forgot what day it was… I wanted to build a house. I instead got pulled into a potato dimension with a bunch of cool blocks and features, I built a potato house
I remember when DanTDM made a video where it seems like Dr Trayaurus turned everyone into villagers.
No, it WAS Dr. Trayaurus. This man is obviously lying to us.
Bro the fact that bedrock edition never gets a april fools update is just sad
Yeah like how hard is it they have a year to give something to bedrock but no, our April fools joke is that we don't get any.
Probably cause the team working on bedrock sucks
Bedrock edition *is* the joke
But that's the prank. Everyone who plays bedrock just gets dunked on
@@Deniz3n not everyone can afford a pc ya know..
Never realised Minecraft had a TF2 reference.
2023: The voting update added a bunch of random features that you can vote to add to your world including the moon dimension.
2024: The poisonous potato update added a potato dimension with everything potato themed. There’s many things from a block that moves other blocks smoothly forward to a potato grappling hook
"Tries to outdo the last one" if only they worked this hard in every OFFICIAL Minecraft update
They work harder actually
I don't know what the 2023 April Fool's update was, except that it set the launcher on fire.
the voting update
@@drx737Ah, thanks.
2023 was voting
the first one is a nod to team fortress 2 and mann co.
fun fact: the locked chest has a font that is a reference to team fortress 2.
Bedrock edition: wait there was an April fools update?
Space Minecraft actually sounds so cool like imagine being able to travel to completely random generated worlds with totally unique environments with Minecraft physics that’d be fucking awesome.
My favorite part of the April Fool's updates was when kurahito the Japanese blind Minecraft player thought his graphics card was glitching
Alot of these would make great game additions to just have
I just realized that the 2019 and 2011 updates were just references to DOOM and TF2 💀💀💀
Finally someone knows
also wolfenstein because the bottom face in the “1994 minecraft” is a reference to wolfenstein and doom
FINALLY A COMMENT THAT MENTIONS DOOM
They put more time, money and effort in the April fools updates than they do normally 💀
2011’s April fools update felt like an omen.
Stuff Notch made fun of, became a Hellish reality.
It was a TF2 reference, it's not as deep as you think it is.
bedrock edition
I really like the 2023 update, and I'm actually doing a survival world on the April fools update to see how long I can go for
Imagine they make everything circles
In this april fools update, there's a vote rule called "NO ROUND SHAPES" that changes textures of ender pearls, snowballs and such. It would be fun if they made the exact opposite to all the items though
I am from the future to tell you, 2023’s April Fool’s update included infinite dimensions. That’s your only hint
2023: Voting system.
2024: Pousonous potato dimension
I need the snapshot versions. I wanna try the dos graphics ones
they added it in 1.6, and removed it in 1.12 or something like that.
some of the shaders looked better than the normal textures.
you can toggle it with the super secret shader settings
Is anyone here from the 2024 april fools uptdate?
It's Poisonous Potato Update
The good thing with these updates are that you don't have to worry about keeping anything balanced, you just do the funni.
Fun fact: The first April fools update with the store is a reference to TF2’s Mann co store ( it even has the tf font)
damn even the first april fools update was a TF2 reference, bravo notch
Tf2 is everywhere.
I always thought it was dr trayurus who made everyone a villager 🥹
Nope
that is a name i havent heard in a looong time 🥲
DanTDM

*Steve Co. Supply Crate* Oh hell nah, it ain't Minecraft, it's mine fortress 2 💀
Hope this year will be special
I think they spend the entire budget on April 1 pranks, and then add a new plant
Fr it has no purpose either 😢
Who would have guessed all this would have started from a jab at TF2
The first April Fools update for Minecraft was a reference to TF2s manco store
So you’re telling me they will completely redo the game but can only add one of three mobs once a year?
meanwhile modders are out here adding all the mobs from the mob vote in the time it takes mojang to introduce them
exactly, i mean there is a process where they have to decide, get it approved and then add it into the game in both verisons, but still even with that 1 is still too few.@@meair
What about this year's?
i was born april 2nd 2011, 1 day younger than the history of the april fools snapshot
In 2023, They added a system to where you can vote, example:
Poll to increase bee knockback
Just gonna say. You have the exact same name as me. My preferred name after transitioning was Cobalt. Thank you for giving me dopamine for finding another Cobalt!
The Infinite dimensions one is so cool fr fr
The screensavers was the best. Still use them to this day.
Bro, 2016 should have that minimap in the actual game plus that tech stuff💀
Okay that chicken flight has got to be the most iconic. 🐓✈️
the fact that the 2011 one was just tf2 cosmetic crates
The tf2 store for 2019 is gold bro 💀
2011
They really went from "funny filter and love" to "INFINITE DIMENSIONS, MULTIPLE TIMELINES, YOU ARENT ALONNNNNNEEEEE"
Minecraft half the year: sleeping
The other half: April fools
I remember desperately trying to make the locked chest work as a kid so I could hide my gear. We had lan parties with mod packs. That’s what got me into coding
Life is so different and complicated now. I would give anything to go back to that time. Leaving my computer on while i slept so my crops would grow. Building a ridiculous diamond house when I found out how to dupe. Watching ant1venom with my friend
Those were the days
Oh and here's one I forgot to mention.
in 2023, there's one where you get a pig nose that makes a pig-snorting sound every few seconds.
I love when a massive company adds updates that’s would improve the base game greatly and proceeds to remove them the next day, or when it forces the fan base to choose from three updates that would all benefit the game in their own ways
New dimensions for just one day: easy
New mob: absurd work
I was a kid (age about 9 years old) playing the Beta in 2011. I saw that chest and me being a kid I thought it was a legitimate thing. I wasn’t going to buy it but I was doing “research” about what is inside that chest
Mojang, for 2024 April Fools, make it completely normal to piss people off, but secretly have Herobrine appear in the corner of the players vision every so often, only to immediately disappear after, along with increased chances of cave sounds
Moon in 2023 and then POISONOUS POTATO!
I like how the 5 pack of keys is more expensive than just buying the keys individually.
I like how 2019 and before was like “mmm silli textur chang” and 2020+ is like “Enough dilly dallying, Let us begin.”
The one-block-at-a-time update was low-key genius and spawned a whole new category of speedruns when people took it seriously.
For any who might not get the 1994 one, 1994 is the year DOOM II released, which was the biggest fps of its time (everything else was considered "DOOM clones")
2014 was so memorable. I remember playing hive network and mineplex that day and it was just chaos with all the villager sounds
that 2011 prank was ahead of its time
It's a team Fortress 2 reference
2011 done turned Minecraft into TF2
Villager player in a chart: chugga chugga chugga chugga
I remember the April fools of 2018. The textures gave me some sensory overload and i think i cried.
I remember the villager one, me and my buddy was playing pvp at his house and freaked out and thought his account got hacked or something, great memories
The Steve Co Supply Crate joke was a grim foreshadowing of Bedrock Edition
Mojang: we can only release one mob from the mob vote this year
Also Mojang:
They somehow add better and more things in April Fools updates compared to the actual updates
Fun fact, 2024 will be the first year in a while to have Easter, and April fools day on the same day, meaning Mojang could do a double twist and do an Easter update as the April fools
I got so excited for the infinite dimensions one that I forgot it was April, the disappointment was immeasurable.
They went from making fun of microtransactions to having microtransactions in like 5 years
The reverse wither is so memorable man 😭😭😭
2014’s april fools. The biggest scare i ever had in minecraft
Five years later, this April Fool's joke will be so nostalgic.
The first April fools was making fun of microtransactions. Oh how well that’s aged
