It may be a starter but so are the aurora, cutter and mustang and all those have better offense. Cigs move to size 4 feels balanced. If they kept it as size 3 single it honestly isn't fun to use. The problem is they say "starter" but it's definitely gonna be 60 dollars. It just has that feel. - so it needs to match the titan and 300i in some sort of way. I love the cutter and that thing is hideous but loveable
I don’t think the community ridicules the Intrepid because it’s a starter ship but because it’s the worst startership and also is ugly (except the interiors, which are fine)
As long as stats are clearly communicated to players, I maintain that it's not bad to have underperformers. The problem arises when players are buying what could potentially be a dud.
@@OddJobEntertainment I disagree. As a starter ship it is aimed at new players which may not understand what they are signing up for even if they see the stats.
Intrepid will be my new starter.I have some problems with this cargo pods instead of standard cargo elevator or pisces style cargo bay, but overall I thing this sjip is now very nice starter with outstanding interrior (and is fast, really fast).

I didn't have any issues with the ship except the 1 size 3. That's crazy underpowered. If they wanted this ship at a lower tier, it should have just had a set of smaller weapons on the wings or nose. The obvious design choice that mirrors the ion/inferno implies the ship was designed for that role at a starter level. Going to the size 4 is enough. I would have even been okay with a 2-4 cargo nerf if they were afraid the size 4 was overpowered for a starter with 8 SCU. The fix has been made, I think it was the right choice by CIG. This ship can still mostly be NPC fodder.
Your mistaken its not a bad ship now after that upgrade . its such a good ship to fly and great against small stuffs now, you just need to know when to bug out,.
I believe the Intrepid would benefit from a size 4 weapon. While it is classified as a starter ship and not a dedicated fighter, its damage output compared to other starter ships is underwhelming with just a single size 3 weapon. New players often engage in bounty hunting, and both the Auror and the Cutter starter ships have more firepower than the Intrepid. All starter ships should be comparable in performance and capable of handling the basic gameplay loops equally well, including box missions, cargo transport, bounty hunting, and system traversal. The effectiveness of a ship really depends on its sale price. While I understand that ships should have unique characteristics, they should not differ to the point where one is significantly less capable than its counterparts. It’s concerning to limit new players to only one gameplay loop when other starter ships can perform multiple roles, as this represents poor game design.
but... in theory, we're not always going to be selling ships right? If lots of generic ships can be made by smashing assets together for "NPC ship" then it wouldn't take that much time.
I think it was more that if the avenger is better on every metric and is the same price why would you buy the intrepid. It sucked relatively. Not by itself.
The problem with the Intrepid is not the stats, the problem is that it's fucking ugly. It's a Timu-knockoff of a Wish-knockoff of a Crusader ship. Crusader is NOT known for being asymmetrical. _Two_ Crusader ships are _slightly_ asymmetric. The Ares has an off center gun, the port and starboard sides of the Mercury are slightly rule of cool asymmetrical on the leading edge. The Intrepid is just stupid. _ZERO_ Crusader ships have an asymmetrically offset _cockpit._ Because that's a bad idea for space ship with a high roll rate. It's fine if you're flying a large, slow ship like a Cat or an Ironclad. But if you have an offset cockpit, the G-Forces are magnified on the pilot. Roll too hard clockwise and you blackout. Roll too hard counter-clockwise and you die of an aneurysm. That's bad. To top it off, the Cutter ends up being better for Hauling (it can take 4 SCU boxes, the Intrepid can only take 1-2 SCU boxes, so no 4+ SCU contracts), better for merc missions since you can easily take a variety of bikes and vehicles, and better for bounty hunting since the Intrepid loses a wing too easily and becomes very hard to fly. As a Crusader-lover, I _wanted_ Crusader to have a starter ship even if _I_ didn't need one. It's my second favourite brand and the one that I want to see more of in the 'verse. But it ended up sucking. But, eh... I suppose it's good to have a third $25-40 starter. The Intrepid being competitive with the Mustang Alpha/Beta and not quite as good as the Cutter should keep it's price below $45.
On one hand, videogame, so realism is only needed so long as it is helpful. I have always thought flying the MF from Star Wars must have been extremely aggravating. As far as it being ugly, yeah, it is. I liken it to when BMW did the 2002 M Coupe. It just didn't hit the mark for the quality that BMW was supposed to be known for. So an occasional miss from a company is entirely realistic. There was also that time an electric car company made a truck...
Because performance-wise it's a Mustang Alpha competior with a bonus Mustang Beta interior. The Cutter, at $45, is as good or better than it for all mission categories. The 300 series and the Avenger Titan are _significantly_ better than the Intrepid.
I don't want to spoil too much of the next video, but this kind of ship I'm alluding to should be pretty quick to pump out because of the lower polish standard.
Seems like they are already upgrading it to a “Size 4 KLWE Laser Repeater.”

I fully agree we need a lot more generic ships and vehicles, I really want planes in fact
Lets be fair, nobody deserves a Aztek. They couldn't even sell it rebodied as a Buick with Tiger Woods help.
those were awesome
This isn't a starter ship, it's a flying apartment with a laser and 2 missiles and I like it!
It does have one of the best interiors.

White Knight (just kidding).
Even though your info is out of date, still have some valid points.
In my defense, they change things so quickly.
lti starter packs are good

With the upgrade to s4 new players can do vlrts and lrts. That is all it needed.

But when a ship takes 8 devs 6 months to make, they need to make CIG LOTS of money to be justified.

im confused as to why people think this will be a 45$ ship. it will likely be 75-90 as starter pack. te mech suit was 40$
Exactly, I’d bet 75

@ you know what happened with the ATLS, right?
Not relevant. _All_ the vehicles, combat or utility, are _wildly_ overpriced.
@@AW-po7jr what happened to the atls?
Star citizen is already backlogged enough, to be wasting time on useless ships ...
That no one wants to buy to fund the game.
