  • The Class 1200s -based on a French design, these locomotives were withdrawn in 2002: we study their workings in the late 1990s in the central & southern zones, on both freight & passenger.
    Class 1320s - withdrawn in December 1997, members of the fleet are seen on freight & railtour duties, with the inevitable clouds of clag that is their trademark!
    Class 1400 - based on the popular English Electric BR class 20, these locomotives can still be found working in the country. Popular with enthusiasts we sample the locomotives at work right across the country during the early 1990s & the turn of this century.
    Class 1500/1520 - these locomotives attracted a huge following, made by ALCO we see them in action on passenger & freight workings.
    Class 1930 - another French design for use on express passenger services. From now on things start to get louder! Class 1960 - just 12 of these Bombardier-built locomotives survive, all are used on freight. We sample the class at work in the north & along the picturesque Douro Valley.
    Class 1550 - still in use on freight in the central and southern zones, we chart their workings during the late 1990s on heavy international freight trains as well as the odd passenger turn.
    Class 1800 - also regarded as the Portuguese version of the BR Class 50, the designs, looks and sounds are very similar. We provide extensive coverage of these popular machines at work, from express passenger turns on the Algarve main line to freight & railtour duties.
    Class 1930 - triple-headed freight provide the loudest of send offs - without doubt some of the most incredible sights to have been witnessed in Portugal!! See it all for yourself!
