SEPTEMBER 9, 2023: Buckets and basins have become new and recurring additions to classrooms at the Chetwood Memorial Primary School in Montego Bay, St James, as students and teachers grapple with leaking ceilings on rainy days.
When The Gleaner visited the school on Friday, some classrooms were flooded as rainwater seeped through visible cracks in the walls and ceilings in some classrooms.

Disgraceful! The schools are neglected, the hospitals are neglected and the crime is out of control. What is the government doing with all the grants and loans that they took out?🤔

I can speak from experience. I am over 30 yrs and is a past student of Chetwood. Mr. Atkinson speaks no lies! Flooding on the property and even in the building (moreso the corridors) has been a long standing issue.
The powers that be NEEDS to do much better. And as Principal Atkinson said, the passes from Chetwood over the many years have been tremendous. The institution produces quality.
SHAME!!!SHAME!!! SHAME!!! The Minister of education is dead as a door nail. She needs to be removed and put someone who cares and has a vision for education in the country.
Honestly I really thought that education, health and security must be priority in any country. As far as I am seeing and hearing these 3 areas in JA are highly neglected. This is gross shame and embarassmeñt on all parties who fail to do what is expected of them.
