A friend of mine streamed this to me in discord, but didn't tell me it was the game remade from memory and disguised it as playing original game again. He had me believing it was the regular game for about an hour and a half because I thought the music difference was an emulator issue, but I was starting to realize something was up by Morton's Castle. Before the dramatic reveal could happen though, another friend popped in and went "oh hey this is super mario world made from memory?" and blew the illusion wide open and left my friend dry of the satisfaction. 10/10 would get firmly pranked again

They played it once for the first time in their entire life, and their school teacher gave them a week to completely recreate it from memory without peeking.

they probably played a level and then recreated it and then played another one
They almost definitely looked at the levels beforehand and just tried to see what things they could change to make it look like it was made from memory.
They were effectively cheating on the test and intentionally getting a few questions wrong so the teacher wouldn’t suspect a thing.

It’s incredible how I can distinctly remember the entire smw soundtrack better than the people who made this mod, despite the fact that I’ve never played or watched a vanilla smw play through.

Dayv or Dayvv Brooks is not a fake person, he actually was mildly influential to the series. The more you know. Very interesting, he was a game counselor, which I didn't even know existed as a profession. Basically, there was a help line to get help playing games. He got reassigned to help work on the English localization of super mario games, and worked on 3 and world, and ended up being the guy to name the koopalings. He he was a DJ, so he named them after musicians. Of all the things to remember about super mario world, that is whack.
I've been watching Simple for long enough and the early levels were recreated well enough that it took me legit 10 minutes to be even remotely sure that this wasn't vanilla SMW and Simple and Murkus weren't unspoken mind melding on a bit to gaslight me.

I've decided to play the original smw for a little bit while watching this to see what was remembered incorrectly. The first thing I noticed was that the bush on the first level they played was placed closer to the tilted platform. That's the only thing. Everything else is the same

@@saadiamendil6902 I know, but there are parts where like the drums sound spot on despite being what I imagine to be the most difficult to recreate, while other sounds are just super off key or off beat, even though the melodies themselves are super memorable.
Also all the instruments are correct for each song, which makes me think they opened the existing music, deleted certain notes and then filled them back in or something. It's hard to explain.
EDIT: I guess what I'm getting at is some parts sound incredibly accurate while other times its incredibly inaccurate and it's weird that both can be true

The single most disconcerning thing I have experienced in a while is the fact that I don’t know what any of the SMW levels look like but having a vague understanding of what is what based on SMM2 but then also on top of that where anything could just be wrong based on whoever’s memory created the hack. But then even one more level where there is a certain uncertainty of what the hell im even seeing as there are many things in SMW that aren’t in the SMM2 version of it.
These two boneheads' dynamic is the best.

To my knowledge, it was a group project, they had the levels in a spreadsheet and someone would claim a level to remake from memory, they'd refer to it once beforehand and then work on it after w/o referring back to it again.
