  • Hey riders,
I never intended to train riders for the Finke Desert Race.
I raced motocross for 14 seasons.
    My background was in Motocross.
I’d heard of the race but didn’t know what it involved or what the format was.
    Just the name.
7 years later and I’ve worked with racers from the top 25 all the way to riders racing Finke for the first time.
I see the same common problems come up each year.
    Riders training too much.
    And doing too much cardio.
It’s interesting to see what riders will do to get their bike set up.
They’ll get their suspension sent off to be revalved and all the rest.
They’ll get a set of Steg Pegs to make the bike easier to ride at speed.
They’ll make sure the motor is fresh so it goes the distance.
And then when it comes to training and getting themselves ready, they just throw shit at the wall and hope it will stick.
It’s leaving a lot of performance on the table when you think about it.
The events probably 50% bike and 50% rider.
But most riders treat it like its 90% bike and 10% rider.
Here is the strategy I’ve used each year to get racers ready for Finke: • How I trained 37+ ride...
