- Charlene and Hosea Person share their experiences with winning the February 1, 2011 Mega Millions jackpot on behalf of the P1 Gold Lottery Club. The $46.5 million jackpot will be split among 13 lucky members in the club who all work together and plan to continue working. The winning ticket was sold at the Meijer in Belleville, Michigan.

I agree, the lady who is asking questions should never be allowed to ask questions again.. Girl, you do the math yourself, ...13 workers and after taxes the group gets 29 million.. figure it out yourself... Congrats to the postal workers...

though and anyway, i agree with you that some of the questions in interviews like this should *not* be disclosed for privacy and safety reasons - for the winners as well as their family and friends. imho, every big ticket winner should get on board a team with at least one of each who specialize in lottery winner clients and/or financial planning *[who have all been properly vetted, of course!]:* a lawyer, a CPA and a financial planner. then, if the state allows it, have a qualified rep answer questions [a good trusted or a legal rep..or at least have some kind of a good rep with them, if they, the winners, agree do a press conference]...i read an article a few years ago about a couple who didn't even tell their adult children that they won! they decided it would be better to just act natural. to help them if and when they ever needed, as they always have done, but to keep quiet, haha!. they also hired a team of out of state lawyers to help them set up a trust fund for the family. i think, if i recall correctly, it was because the state they lived in didn't allow anonymous prize claims. it was a very interesting article as well as very educational!

I understand people are curious and the reporters are asking questions that most people want to know when people win millions of dollars. However, WHEN I win, I will have statements prepared and say upfront that my personal information is confidential including whether I have children/married, where I work and live, my age, and how I am going to spend the money. I personally would not ask anyone, poor or rich, what they do with their money. I like this guy’s response when asked how he was going to spend the money, “stimulate the economy”. Also, in many places, asking someone’s age is rude and disrespectful. I do not believe that personal information should be expected to be given whether you earn or win millions of dollars. Another thing, even though I am a giving person and have given my last dime (honestly) to homeless people, I do not believe a person should feel obligated or frowned upon if he or she decides not to give to charity or to people in need. If that is the expectation for people with money, I believe everyone who has any money should give to others less fortunate than themselves. One last thing, if I am FORCED legally to appear on TV (exposed to potential robbers, thieves, scammers, and beggars who are able to work) you will not know it is me. 🦸♀️ I can be quite creative when necessary.

The US population is about 315 million and out of that about 38 million live in the California. If California was a country, out of about 200 sovereign nation-states in the world, it would have (depending on where you look) the 6-th to the 10th largest economy! New York city may be the best city in this country but California is the best state. It's massive in territory, population, and economy. I'm not surprised that most winners are from here...I'm just disappointed that I wasn't one of them.

Pretty much. I thought it was silly to even ask if any of them would retire. 46.5 is the annuity amount. Cash value is around 15 less than that and then there is Uncle Sam and dividing it into 13 equal parts. Pay off a mortgage, student loans and a vacation two corners over would be a stretch.

It was won on a single ticket, though despite it was a group purchase it still counts in the statistics as a single winner, if it was more then one ticket then each ticket counts as its own to make for 3....

When you do a pool you have the advantage of purchasing more plays without having to front all the $ yourself. For example, 10 quick picks would normally be $20 out of your pocket. However ,if you had 4 co-workers for a pool ,you all will divide the cost ,only having to put forth $5 a piece for TEN plays. Then ,if y'all win,you split the $$ evenly ,then call your jobs to tell them to kick rocks...Next, live a Golden life 😄😄😄

Yeah, kidnap me if you want. I'm not 1 of 3 that won. I'm still fucking broke & I live in Hemet, CA. I bought $125 worth of tickets...the last time I played was years ago so when the jackpot went up I thought I'd have some fun. The most I matched up was 2 numbers on 2 different tickets. Also, I thought I could get a few bucks back, nope. We have 1 in 40 chance of getting some sort of prize but I only got the mega # in 2 out of 125 tickets! Never playing the lotto again.
