Great to see some old paper out there! That flea market is where Blue Bus Dave scores big! 10,000 is close and a celebration is in order! You just Rock Renee!
I was watching for him too. Especially near the jewelry. He is a terrific teacher and finder for sure. I love it when he is emptying out a home for people and talks about the stuff they have left behind for him to take. Or sorts through jewelry and talks about it.
I have been swimming in paper and photos for 3 days now. Mom passed on July 31st, I was given all her paper memories. I have 2 sweet bothers, but mom knew I was the vintage and memories girl. Renee, you would love the old cards I gave my parents, can't beleive how many she saved. I was born in 59 so you can imagine how cute they are. I also have my Dad's service records for the Royal Canadian Navy ww11, and following that, all his Merchant Marines travel records and pay stubs, and so much more. I have always picked up old photos etc.. but so different is the experience now. Wish I could send you some, but I'm not ready too part with anything.
I am sorry for your loss Cheryl Ross. Our moms from those eras seem to have been the history keepers. I am still pulling out boxes of papers, photos and memorabilia 40 years later. (Staying in large homes helped but now the big sort is on.) Get a couple of boxes of Kleenex or hankies near by I really needed them both for happy and sad. Please keep the memories for future generations because a grandchild or two may find this all fascinating and carry on the tradition. Blessed Be.
@@paulanull8731 thank you Paula, I'm close too the end of sorting. Now how to keep these treasures so my family can enjoy them is another task. That means future generations as well. ❤
Yes, the scars on the woman's palms were likely due to stigmata association. That was common in that day for Catholics to associate with the crucifixion that way. Also you never "overpay" when you purchase something that brings you so much joy.
Loved the old papers and pictures. You are so tiny and sweet. You talk about work. What do you do , unless you prefer not to say. I retired almost 9 years ago but volunteer at the local soup kitchen and I love it. I go Tuesdays, that's the day my dad did and I joined him and when he passed, I had my job. I take care of the deserts.
Taking care of desserts... I'd be sampling all those desserts :0) For work, I am in the records management field. Working with paper, just not in the field that I enjoy. Hoping to one day make that change!
I was so excited to see those photos of the home. My daughter and her husband just purchased a 1910 Victorian style home. It has a beautiful parlor and all of the original trim and pocket doors. It is so beautiful!! I can just imagine from those photos the family in it as a new home! I love the things you find! What treasures!! Congratulations on 9K
I won a physical fitness presidential award patch in the 6th grade. It was a big accomplishment at that time. I would love to find that. We had to do the shuttle, the 600 yard dash, the bar hang, etc. they don’t really do that anymore:(.

Hello back to Germany! It's been many years since my last trip to Munich, love that city and the little café that makes the apple strudel I have ever had :0)
What a wonderful view of life in the albums, but especially the first. I think this maybe something like one of my aunts did when she travelled out west to see relatives for the first time in 20 some years. Pictures of people, homes, all the cars and trucks. Interior pictures of the best rooms or of special people (father) all hauled about in picture envelopes. Regardless this album is lovely and very nicely organized and well done script writing in white.
Hiya Renee, what you said in the beginning about having too much? Yup, that’s why we have “Casa Chaos”😉! Love pics of old interiors, so fun to see how people lived. The passport stuff was interesting as well as that deed- wow! Have a lovely holiday weekend! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️

Henry Wallace was Vice President of the United States under FDR. He was from Iowa. At the Democratic convention in 1944, Harry Truman was named Vice President instead, and then became President when FDR died. Your album of the home is not as unusual then as we find it today. Growing up I remember an elderly friend telling me about when she and her family moved into a new home. The home had a parlor and it was her mother’s pride and joy. She said it was a huge deal to have a parlor to receive guests in and it was kept immaculate. If they had access to a camera I am sure there would’ve been many pictures of that parlor.

One other comment on that package - You mentioned the scars on the palms of the woman who's passport you were holding. This was shortly after finding the invitation to the ordination of the priest and the first thing I thought of was that she might have been bearing the stigmata. All those invitations to sit up on the Capitol steps for the inauguration and the other events convinces me that these were some very powerful people with close connections to someone in congress!

These passes allowed you to sit up in the visitor's gallery for as long as you wanted so you could watch Congress in action. (In those days there really was a lot of action going on!). Well we were thrilled to get the congressman's autograph so we put our little heads together and figured out that if we looked up the name of every Congressman and Senator, as well as a tiny town in their State, then we could go to every office and collect autographs of the entire congress! We actually tried it over several days but we got bored with it and stopped at around 40. Besides, we both found it far more interesting to spend our time watching them work on the floor of the house and senate.. I don't know if they still do that, but I recommend it if they do!
Thank you for sharing your story! I'd say that 40 is still an accomplishment! The pass felt odd or just felt "current" versus the old paper feel that I'm used to. I would say that's probably attributed to what paper it was made of. Do you still have the autographs that you collected?

I could spend hours going through boxes of paper/photos. One way to make money is to buy 14 k gold in rings at the auctions and then sell it. Blue bus Dave is a pro. Check him out.
I enjoyed the video. I have a question. I know ephemera is one of your passions and I hear you talking about researching it. I wonder if you are just a bit of a history buff or just enjoy knowing the story behind the things you collect. OMG, having such FOMO right now...Did the paper come from Tony? Such a nice man and I always find interesting stuff from him! Where are these fantastic piles when I'm there? LOL...I'll be back there on Sunday...hopefully so will the paper!
Share what you paid for paper bundles please
That deed is probably on vellum paper
love your vids thanks so much for sharing. Can I be so bold to ask what camera do you use and what editing program? thanks
I have a GoPro 7 White, which I do not recommend. I've had nothing but problems with it and so am updating to the GoPro 7 Black version. For editing, I use Adobe Premier Pro. There is so much more possible with editing, but I stick with what I can figure out (for now at least!).
TRAIN!
is thar taco stacks?
I could spend hours going through boxes of paper/photos. One way to make money is to buy 14 k gold in rings at the auctions and then sell it. Blue bus Dave is a pro. Check him out.
BTW I got the smallpox vaccination when I was a senior in high school. Holy crap! It’s horrible. So glad that isn’t given now!
I'm new to your channel. What do you do with all the paper?
I enjoyed the video. I have a question. I know ephemera is one of your passions and I hear you talking about researching it. I wonder if you are just a bit of a history buff or just enjoy knowing the story behind the things you collect. I love antiques and I spend time thinking about the people who have owned them like a table and chairs who had dinners and what was talked about. If a mother lifted a child to sit on the edge of the table to doctor a scuffed knee. I just day dream. Enjoy your day.
The passport and so on might be fun to trace the family down like on Ancestry.com or something! As a genealogist tht looks like treasure to me!
Why didn't you buy the marbles? Some of them looked really nice. The patches looked nice also. Nice video.
Hi Rennee: the "paper feel" probably was NOT phellum (sp)....made from the stomach area of calfs....I enjoy your videos very much....Hello to Taco for me..!
