🍺. I have fished the Deps Bullflat, the Geecrack spiron, and the OSP
DoLiveSS Gill. They are basically all the same bait in principle and profile but made by different company’s. Each of these baits have great under water footage in a swimming pool available on line to watch. There are numerous ways/presentations to fish these baits with some flat out awesome actions/movements in the water. The Deps for me finished in 3rd place out of the 3 baits. I highly recommend you search these baits underwater footage.

I have fished them with a lightly weighted screw lock swim bait hook as Kemura recommended for the larger sizes. I like the way you are fishing them here. I am so excited to see you fishing these! Love the challenge! You are having more luck than I am. Thank you so much for the great content! Please do this again.

Throw these all of the time on the Delta. Usually Texas rig with light weight 1/8-1/4 and let it spiral. Gets hammered. I bet it would work punching or with a heavier weight just as well.

Watch the hookup tackle videos on this bait and with Kenta Kimura. The largest size is on a swimbait hook 8/0 kind of fished like a glide bait.. The smallest is good on dropshot ( use a wide gap dropshot hook, it's thick). Free rig and Texas rig in between sizes. Everything on a spinning rod with light line (8lb flouro) except for the biggest size (5.8).
Flat side is meant to be up. You can nail weight it for further glides or faster sink rates. You can fish it like a senko. It's worth figuring it out. Use a screw lock keeper to improve the durability/ save money..

I’ve fished these a lot this last year. I really like the 5.8 on a 6/0 or 7/0 swimbait hook with the cps pin. I fish it around shallow grass and let it glide into the grass. It’s been pretty successful, but I’m not sure if it’s going to continue to be effective, or if it is just different and new. We will see.

  • @pampa003
    @pampa003 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

They do get bit. I don’t go through as many baits when using an ewg screw lock type hook. OSP makes a similar bait called the dolive gill. In similar sizes the OSP bait is not quite as heavy and to me glides a little easier particularly when rigged backwards which works well when skipping under docks, overhangs, etc.

I fished the 4.8” Texas rigged with a screw lock hook last night. Skipping it in to cover is a fun way to fish it. My bites came as a topwater bite or as soon as it fell. ***get Berkley to make something like this. You can’t buy the deps in white, which is a killer color, you have to order white from Japan.

Ive lost numerous due to bluegill ripping the tail off. Ive followed up with a 6" senko and was successful. The bull flat reminds me of the bellows gill. Another fad bait.

Weightless and free rig are the ticket

I like the OSP version too. But like the Deps, they are soft and don’t last long

Using a bullet weight completely kills the point of this flat. Using a weighted ewg or free rig it.

Not very durable but, looks like they are fish catching baits. Thanks !

I think you would be better off using a screw lock ewg hook

@@MattStefanFishing it’s a sick bait on a free rig around vertical cover like pilings. It almost falls like a flutter spoon

Hey man don't know if you look back at your post but FYI: Hook Up Tackle (tackle store out west) has a handful of videos about this lure and the OSP DoLive, including a couple with a team design/test guy from Japan and his tips.
Here's a link to a fellow discussing a backward rigging of the bait that looks intriguing too. Undercut banks!

Looks like the medium screw lock from Owner is a big help with tearing up the baits. They're pricey but they look interesting.
    All the best

It's slow slow sink. Add a nail weight for faster sink or a ball head, free rig it.

Some lures, I'll never use just by the look. This includes one of them. Secondly, if they want you to test it, test it in the hardest place so they can fail or win. Give them no slack. A lot of Japanese lures be too soft, too bulky, too expensive, and too weird. Not interested. 5 cast, 5 lures gone? Good luck mates.
