Hey--came back to this video and watched again today. Thanks for taking the time to show the forge and recommend it! A couple things you mentioned have actually been improved: the blower now comes with 2" duct and appropriate clamps. The attachment of the draft tube now arrives already assembled with larger screws that would be unlikely to break like the earlier sheet metal screws. We also now offer a hood to help focus the heat and keep sparks off you while you are working.

This might be a little late but I very much appreciate the steps you've taken to fix things I've noticed a drastic improvement in a lot of areas of your company. I I'm considering taking this video down in making an updated video because I do not feel that this is necessarily a relevant review anymore.
      Much love

In all honesty $500 is more than reasonable. The few issues mentioned are not worth mentioning.
    Good video and review.

500 dollars? Damn. U could easily build it yourself with angle iron and a pipe

I built one out of an old table (the center has a cradle like section perfect for holding the firebricks) and a plumbing pipe.

Thank you for all that info. I've seen them, but I feel it's made in China I look away.
Not to say it is made in China but I can't see 500.00 for a dryer vent hose. Not to mention you wouldn't need to crank on the blower hard if you have a smooth bore air hose going to your forge??? Not that I know what I'm talking about but I am 56 now and i do know a couple things lol
    GOD Bless!!!😇👍

just cut a slot in the dryer tube then out the hose clamp arround it and wala it will hold fast.

I just used a liberal amount of duct tape on mine because I couldn't be bothered to use the cheesy hose clamp that came with the kit.

I understand your concerns about the quality control items, but I don't follow your logic on the price of fuels. You say coal is expensive in your area and a 6 hour drive to pick it up. Wood is widely available and much of it is free. How do you conclude wood to be more expensive than coal?

  • @antheaxe7340

ask around for pallets often free or if you live close to a spruce forest or fir forest collect cones might be an idea for free fual don´t know it i would work but and you will most likly need to get permission to collect

Hi. I just discovered the Whitlox yesterday and am very excited at the prospect of having no cost fuel. In your video you recommend sticking with coal if possible but you also say that you don't see any meaningful functional difference between wood and coal and the cost of wood is the only reason you give for sticking with coal. However, everyone I've encountered (including yourself) have gone with wood because of the cost. Scrap wood is essentially free (for yourself too) as is wood cut from one's own woodlot. Is there some other factor that weights the cost issue in favor of coal?

Tim Dickinson Not unless you are buying charcoal. 10 lbs of charcoal can cost about $12.00 where as you can get 50lb of coal for the same price. If you can get a good setup so you can make charcoal I would always burn the charcoal because raw wood is a bit more work and takes slightly more more fire management. I'll put up a video soon that explains this better.

depends on where you look for charcoal. there's a resturant supply store near me that sells charcoal in 40 lb bags for $10.

Costco has the same deal and their new business centers stock it year round.
However, the whole point of this forge is to be able to use raw wood if that's all you've got. Yeah, charcoal is super easy to use and I'd definitely want to use charcoal for welding, but it isn't absolutely necessary with proper fire management and raw wood doesn't take any different fire management skills than coal. Both have to be coked first to get a clean burn. Smoldering wood smoke is not nearly as bad for you as the noxious sulfuric poison that billows from coking coal. The smell of working over coal has lots of positive associations for me but the stuff, itself, is utterly foul.

true but its good when you're in a pinch. All my firewood is wet right now so I've been using lump charcoal lately

    • @Airsoft0skater
      @Airsoft0skater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Tim Dickinson you can! BUT! because this Forge is not specifically designed to burn coal there's no method for easily removing klinkers so you will have to work with that. but its doable

Dont weld the air pipe to receiver. Just measure the hole and tap it yourself
