  • Flight over the Unesco World Heritage Site Castel del Monte, a 13th-century castle situated on a hill in Andria in the Apulia region of southeast Italy, built by Frederick II Barbarossa. The drone footage shows the spectacular surrounding landscape, as well es the extraordinary octagonal structure of the castle and the massive architectural details. Enjoy!!

Frederick I was named Barbarossa ( Barbarossa by the northern Italian cities which he attempted to rule: Barbarossa means "red beard" in Italian; in German, he was known as Kaiser Rotbart, which means "Emperor Redbeard" in English.) who was the grandfather of Frederick II, King of Sicily from 1198, King of Germany from 1212, King of Italy and Holy Roman Emperor from 1220 and King of Jerusalem from 1225, who built Castel del Monte. He wasn't named Barbarossa like is grandfather, but Stupor Mundi. He was one of the greatest sovereign of South Italy still remembered.
