Update, two years later I'm crying at 3 minutes in. Even after I stopped watching anime because kpop, this song has made me feel sad just by listening to it. Going through some old AMV's that I liked and this series made me cry the most. It's been two years since I saw this anime and I'm close to crying like a fool.
Someone NEEDS to do an AMV with the song "Shiroyama" by Sabaton for Hakuouki seeing as the song itself is referring to the last Samurai stand by the Satsuma domain not long after the events of Hakuouki.... just to really make someone bawl their eyes out... >:)
This is really good, just like the anime. I think this song fits the anime well. But it has such a sad ending, that's what I didn't like about it... but well done
I made it through the video without crying, until the last ten second when it was instrumental, and it was showing scenes of happy times before season 2. I honestly hate the creator for killing them off, he/she could have easily gone and did all the deaths, but at the very end after Hijikata turns to ash, show Chizuru screaming and all the guys around her worried. It'd be a nightmare of what would happen if they all kept going on like they were. The Shinsengumi would change their ways, then Hakuouki would still be historically correct for the most part up until the end. Or even an alternative ending would have worked were Chizuru could have convinced Hijikata to leave, leaving him alive.
I fully agree, considering that Heisuke, Saito, Sanosuke, Hijikata, and Okita are real people that served in the Shinsengumi and DIDN'T DIE UNTIL AFTER THE MEIJI RESTORATION. It was even historically correct(a little) because Heisuke was the youngest member of the Shinsengumi and Okita did die of Tuberculosis(after he retired from the army). You are so right
Okita did die after retiring to the country sideafter. But Heisuke i read was killed by a new Shinsengumi member that didn't know Kondo let him leave. But Hijikata i thought was killed on horseback going to battle, he was killed from the gunshot to the lower back. But im glad some one agreed that everything could have been historically correct, but still have the happy ending the viewers wanted!
It's the recap of the happy times at the end that really makes it hit home. Thank goodness for fanfiction.
