Honkai Star Rail has a phenomenal ost. The new soundtrack for Penacony is supposedly really fucking good too. I would recommend listening to all the songs and battle themes they have because when playing the game, it sounds so good
The funny thing about this fight is that in phase 1 Phantilia starts while literally laying on her side, attacks by flicking our characters and overall acting like we're mere ants to be swished. In phase 2 she starts getting a little more into it, and as the tempo increase suggests she starts attacking us more intent to actually kill us. Phase 3 is where she stops slouching and leans in gamer-style, now taking the fight more seriously, but as the triumphant sections of the track suggest we're getting the upper hand, we're not dead yet. The "ants" she underestimated so much are now very close to victory. It's an amazing bossfight and an even more amazing fight. If we take only the music in consideration it's probably my favourite boss track, but Wildfire still holds a very special place in my heart as it's a very impactful moment, acting as the big climax of the Belobog story arc.
The vocals are real, actually. They may sometimes use VSTs and the like, but HoYo-MiX actually does record a lot of their music properly. These pieces were performed by the International Master Philharmonic Orchestra, and the vocals were provided, from what I can tell, by a different music studio.

The vocal sound in this song is called 'the Dong's Chorus', a kind of a cappella from the southwest part of China. It's a traditional music of the Dong , one of the 56 ethnics of China. This form of performance has a history of thousands of years, and is usually performed by thousands of people together. And the translation of the vocal part is: Phase 1: It's vibrant when the sun rises, but gets withered when the sun sets. Just like the mayflies and the dew, sighing the rest time of life is so short. Your whole busy life is short as only one day, what a tragedy! Phase 2: Bewail for the elapse of time！ The struggle of life, the sadness of senescence, the pain of sickness. All of them is because of the terror of death! Even as the noble body of celestial being, there is also a day of ending. You can do nothing but sighing. The divine tree is exuberant, flowers and grasses grow around it. And now the divine fruits are on the branch! Phase 3: I take the order of the god, with such a long and prosperous life! The third phase sounds so different because it incorporates Jing Yuan's theme. He's a character that joins the party for this boss fight during the story

I am pretty sure it is pipa(琵琶). Because guzheng(古筝) has a smoother sound. The one we got here is like, more crisp to it. Also, the technique used in this song is called lunzhi(轮指) which is a technique rarely seen on guzheng and more commom on pipa.

Relatively new hsr player here, i share with my sister's account as we take turns to play on our respective devices for relic/jade farming. I accidentally continued through the xianzhou arc when my sister was stuck on the tingyun rescuing quest. We grinded hard to level up relics and our characters. Fast forward to chinese new year when we got Imbibitor Lunae and level him up to 60, it was Phantylia boss fight time and listening to the theme just reminds me of the endless yelling between me and my sister as we were down to Trial Jing Yuan after Bailu managed to use her ult to heal him. Used Jing Yuan's ult, then his AOE, then finally Lightning Lord dealt the final blow to which we cheered. We definitely saving to get Jing Yuan home.

its hard to recommend songs for star rail because especially recently in Penacony literally EVERY song released is beyond worth listening to, . For boss/battle themes I think "Return of None" is a must listen and "The Player on the other side" is also a real standout to me ("Challenge to the reader" and "Against the day" are also really funky though and "Nevermore" despite not having maybe as much to talk about is probably still worth reacting to just because of how insane the sound is) That said, i've seen NO reactions or anyone really talking about "This side of paradise" (probably just because it isn't a battle theme) but I cannot express enough how much it deserves to be talked about. It's probably my favourite star rail track fullstop and I think you could honestly tell so much about what kind of place Penacony is by listening to it.
Sick video! You should check out Martyr, on the Arknights soundtrack. All of that game's music is phenomenal, but I can't think of a better starting point than that (or Control's Wishes)

I'd 100% suggest listening to some other Honkai: Star Rail songs like Samudrartha Edit: there's a lot of good character themes too. I really like A Dramatic Irony (Kafka's theme) The Prodrigal's Return (Imbibitor Lunae's theme), and Supreme Idiocy (Dr. Ratio'a theme).
To me, Phantyllia is just some nobody who sought to become a goddess, when she was a litteral NPC when we encountered her in her base human form. Meanwhile, her Boss theme is fire.
the honkai series is rather fun for the hoyo music team. cause it’s a mix of two very fun areas. while the game is fantastical, featuring a lot of elegance, references to ancient themes, and magic. it also features modernisms, phones, high tech robots, as well as many things that can be deemed futuristic. so they can incorporate things such as trap drums into the music without it being out of place, like if they did so with *most* of genshin’s soundtrack
