You obviously have a green thumb, inherited from your Dad it sounds like. Research the plants you love, learn everything you can about them. Watch videos about them and find out what your mystery plants are. The one towards the end of the video on the stand looks like some kind of Dieffenbachia. They can look very different depending on how they are grown and they are many sub species. The leaf characteristics are what i noticed most and the stem. Learn about making your own soils mixes that benefit each plant because different plants require different types. I used cactus soil to mix with regular potting soil a lot to keep my soils well draining. I also add pumice stone to the soil to keep it aerated and well draining. Orchid bark can add organic compounds, keep the ph appropriate and help with drainage while holding onto some moisture. Different plants like different combos. If you can't find horticulture pumice you can use a course perlite. It's important to use something to keep that water flowing. My first change would be to add a bit of cactus soil to the soil of plants that are tropical in nature and dont like to stay moist. You won't believe how much bigger and healthier your plants will grow once you start incorporating these small changes. Snake plants like soil that dries out. I mix half potting soil and half cactus soil with some pumice or perlite thrown in. Miracle grow has a cactus, palm and citrus soil that is great. It's a grainy soil with a bit of sand and well help your potting soil hold onto a lot less moisture while delivering your plants the nutrients you need. You are basically trying to mimic their natural environment. The inch plant is a Tradescantia zebrina, Zebrina being one of many sub species. They many beautiful varieties, the green an white being my personal favorite. Become an expert in the plants you already have and it will get you into the habit of remembering what certain types of plants need, where certain plants are native too is a good indication of the soil environment you would try to recreate. There are a lot of plant ID apps out there and Reddit has some great plant sub/reddits that deal with different plants or just houseplants that can hep you identify a plant when you can't figure it out. Again, nurture that green thumb of yours. I adored my first little collection of plants and I fell in love with absorbing all the info I could about them. If you have a giant fiddle and it's healthy, you definitely have it in you! I have a giant 8ft tree (Fiddle LF) and one of it's largest and most full branches is about to have to get chopped as it's touching my ceiling. Good luck to you on your plath journey!!
