- Hello, in this video I show several different techniques aimed at producing a super realistic hydrangea flower made from coffee filters. Yes there are lots of videos showing you how to make coffee filter flowers - this video shows you new techniques that are easy to do but very effective.
My video making and editing skills are not good - believe it or not I've spend hours producing this video, I'm just not of the generation where this stuff comes easily to me - so please be kind.

Absolutely beautiful ive seen good few of these tutorials and this is by far the best ive seen. Im a silk botanically correct flower artist. The only flowers ive never made is paper or coffee filter ones. I can make anything from fabrics nd leather. Ive already ordered the coffee filters in the strength of your tutorial, wonderful i cant wait to try it. Im thinking of using my heat tools to shape the leaves aswell. I'll let you know how i get on thanks for sharing this.

Hi Gayle I haven’t finished the ranunculus video yet so you haven’t missed it. I’ve just completed one on roses that took so much longer than I ever thought - I hope to finish editing that very soon. I can then finish the ranunculus one for you.

Hi glamygirlie. Thanks for your kind comments. I must apologise - in editing the video I must have edited out the section where I added glue to the leaves. It was however quite simple - I use mod podge as it seals as well as gives the leaves a glossy look. Once I stick two leaves together with the wire ‘stem’ in between, I simply paint on the glue making sure it covers the edges and leave to dry. I use non stick baking paper so once dry you can peel the leaves off then shape if necessary. Hope this helps- will do better next time! 😉
You can also use a product called Glossy Accents.

I do like your technique for the petals of accordian folding/rolling n bunching together ❣ but i miss the glue on the petals. The glue adds something for me that i like, think i'll play around with it n see. A++for the video❣🥰
Hi Gayle just wanted to reply as I do in fact add a top coat of glue to the leaves to get that waxy look. Hope you’ve got some good results. 👏👍

Hi the filters I used - ordered from Amazon were 250 mm diameter when fully laid flat - inner portion 90 mm. thanks for your feedback.
Great craft. When did you add the pva glue and how do you mix ?
Hi Susan thanks for your question. I add pva glue when I don’t want the colour to run. Coffee filters are so absorbent, sometimes you need to stop that happening. So add it to your bowl of colour and water or when adding layers of colour after you have cut out your coffee filter shapes, add the glue to your gel colour and water mix then use the mix as a ‘paint.’ Either way simply add the glue and stir vigorously until it is mixed together. Something to note your glue can lighten your colour which can be a good thing if you want to achieve a different look. Best wishes.
How do u have your flowers in a half round like is showing on my iPad? My coffee filters seems very thin. . Help?lease
You could put wires in the 90 degree ones so they stay bent.

@@InspectorDee Hi no I’ve not done sunflowers. It is something I keep thinking about - is it possible to replicate the centre of the sunflower? I haven’t come up with a technique to do so yet. If I do I’ll share!
@@jaybailey5560 I’ve seen a few others do them and it seems fairly simple to create the center. I’m sure with your creative mind, you could come up with something amazing!
Your flowers are out of frame! Can you reshoot this, please? Also very low volume except for your channel name and promo which is shockingly loud!
Hi thanks for the feedback. Crafting - easy, filming editing and uploading to TH-cam - not so easy. I will probably do another hydrangea video as this was one of my earlier ones and hopefully I've learnt a little since then.:)
Why so many layers? Waste of time painting when you go and cover over it all .

Great information but TOO long.
Respectfully, an hour is too long. Your work is very good but talk too slow and need to exclude unnecessary words cutting the hydrangeas could have been shown just by folding, penciling, and cutting, takes way too long. Who has an hour to watch every tutorial on TH-cam.
