Introduction to Scything

Simon Fairlie importer, exponent and teacher of Austrian scything in England (www.thescytheshop.co.uk) introduces scything to a beginners course, 11 June 2011. He describes the global division of the scything and non-scything belts; the differences between continental and Anglo-American scythes and the differences in snath and mowing styles between eastern and western Europe.

Great history of the sythe. Good to hear so much explaining how the differences came about. I use a light Austrian style one.
