  • This is part one of a two-part series of an interview with the man himself.
It is our pleasure to present to you, the man himself, Hap Stanley, from Nano Hone. He has been a pioneer of sharpening products for many decades. He first pioneered Shapton products and then went on to start his own company. He is constantly thinking and trying to improve on everything that has to do with sharpening knives and tools. He comes up with new, innovative ideas and techniques. He provides an American made product. He even monitors his social media and is available for questions. It was a pleasure to see him at the Blade Show. He was presenting new products as well. He came into the studio and showed us how to use some of the products we had newly gathered. It was great to see him sharpen a knife. He had fun and we had fun! You can purchase his products from his direct website, as well as from one of our sponsors.

You know your into knife sharpening when you watch both of these videos and your more entertained then watching the most recent "blockbuster movie". LOL. Very nicely done everyone. I really like how your wife and you are a team on the channel. Look forward to seeing her doing some sharpening. If she is nervous, she can think of herself as a pioneer for others just starting out in knife sharpening. What it is like to learn from the ground up.

👍. Great to see Hap put the stone holder on the solid surface of the countertop, there is experience behind that. Solid control.

It was cool to have them install it. I actually put it back on the pond but I did it a little different than he did. He used the inside I believe of the pond and I put the pieces on the outside and I squeezed it. It was a little more sturdy..

Thanks for checking in. I'm glad to know you can. We could've used you here to finish up the polish. I have to finish that myself.

This is an absolutely amazing system. So we’ll engineered, fabulous cutting power and consistency, and frankly a good value!
I’d defiantly encourage anyone to give this a try. You will not be disappointed.

It took me a while because the color was the same on every stone. It was confusing. I got used to it. Now I'm very much a fan.

A good value!? 😶 I just visited the home page and prices are absolutely ludicrous... Basic set 894$ now in hot sale 849$!!! For that price i get every Chosera (or any other full set) stone 25mm thick and diamond on glass lapping plate and money to spare on Gunny Juice and Jende stropes... Yes its nice and convenient but good value its not and its not like i dont have finance to spend on a good stone but paying twice the price makes no sense to me , especially ive seen impression of these stone.. Regular Splash&Go just twice as expansive🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@@georgeyoung4292 i’d have to go back and look at what you said. I don’t know what you consider a basic set. To me a basic that would be a 400 grit, 1000 grit 3000 grit. After that everything else is a luxury. A leather strop would be next and then if you wanted to add a diamond emulsion, you could do that but $894 seems like a hell of a lot.

@@nadmIn my case its 400-800-1000-3000Chosera 5000-10000Gouken Arata (Price was in my currency first 800k +1million+1.2million+1.6million = 4.6million idr for Chosera (2.5cm or 1" of stone) and 1.5*2 =3million for Arata that is 15mmChosera) 7.6million in $US = 475$US +Atoma 400...I said many times , the most important consideration is performance and based on the many reviews HapStone was compared to Glass stones or witch i have also full collection sir, likewise Suehiro.. Im stone enthusiast so i would buy few🤷‍♂️ But "GOOD VALUE" is not🙏Suehiro is best value.. Of course i have also full collection of Gunny Juice personally from Scott himself.. Its profession and hobby at same time.. Despite all that i have only 1 recommendation for ordinary user, get 2venevs dual side stone for 150$ 240#-400# & 800#-1200#fepa that will beat any stone collection in price and performance , strops unnecessary😉

Interesting . . . I encounter minor issues thinning, thin blades. The placement of my finger pressure on the top side of the knife blade yields hollow spots on the side of the blade against the stone. Any thoughts ?

Try using the pads of your fingers rather than the tips.
