Thanks for this video on real world test. Good to see the office test as all what I’ve seen in you tube related to this machine has to do with video editing.
Can the Mac Studio M2 Max handle well with well-known editing programs such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, and Da Vinci, smoothly and easily for video clip production and wedding production, because I work in the field of wedding photography and I have a photography camera such as the Sony A7S3 and Canon Mark IV 5D Please, I want a frank answer. Thank you
Nicely done! Thank you for demoing real life usage scenarios for the base model Mac Studio M2 Max, especially with Windows 11 in Parallels. What was the config (number of CPU cores and RAM) for your Parallels VM instance? I am wondering if the base 32GB RAM is sufficient to run multiple VMs simultaneously. Have you tried running 3 instances of Windows 11 in Parallels simultaneously? If so, have you noticed any significant memory pressure?
Thank you for your kind words, my Parallels instance was running 4CPUs and 8GB Ram. this was auto assigned by the host. I haven't tried running 3 VMs, if I get the change this week I will try it.
Interesting. My base M1 Max Studio w/ Ventura 13.6, Disk Speed Test 3.4.2 can average ~ 5GB/s for both write and read. If I had a do over, I would get the base plus 1TB drive. But at the time without spending nearly twice the base price to get one with a 1TB drive. Or wait a month. My daily Mac had just died and nice as an iPhone 14 is, I was not up using it as my desktop for a month. I am happy enough with the M1 base model. But I will probably alway kvetch about the 512MD drive.
Would you have a sense of how the Studio M2 Max would compare to the MPB 16" M1 Pro? I can't decipher what reviewers are saying. My primary use case is daily 4k video editing, AE, FCP. I want to get better performance if the base model can give that, but not enough to spend for the Ultra.
The M2 Max Studio should be quite a bit better for video editing because of the 30 core GPU instead of the MacBook Pro’s 16 core GPU. And you can spend $200 to upgrade to the 38 core GPU which should be even better. I don’t have either of them so I can’t do a direct comparison.
Base model M2 Max Mac Studio is very reasonably priced when compared to M2 Pro Mac Mini for similar level of RAM and compared to he 19 Core GPU. These two are basically the same price but the Max has 32GPU cores
Of course it is good enough compared to what. But if you want to future proof your investment I think it is much smarter to gt at least 64 gigs of ram and 1 TB SSD. For example I have at least 145 gigs of just FCPX plug ins I use quite often and about 140 gigs of Applications. Not to mention a good amount of Gigs of other things like the actual OS installed. And when your HD get's down to lower space many machines start running slower. Unfortunately you cannot run Apps or plugins from an external hard drive. So I think updating either the SSD or Ram is a must.
@@TomBoyNI Not even sure if that is possible or worth it? Care to explain? I thought the app has to be on OS system HD Along with all it's corresponding folders like the motion folder and such
@@ekphotographyShould be possible. The drive that you move it to acts as the primary source of where it’s stored. Just uninstall it from the main computer after transfer and it should still open straight from the drive.

Is it worth upgrading to the 38c GPU over the 30c for $200? I could see where it would benefit if you are choosing the 96gb memory but since I'm staying with the 32gb memory I don't know which M2 Max variant is the better buy.
Honestly don't remember the specifics, but in one video it was much better option to choose higher RAM than more GPU cores. More GPU didn't show much improvement over 30 cores.
Please I need some help. I'm a filmmaker and need to edit my movies. I'm about to get a Mac studio with m2 max chip 32gb of ram and 512gbssd is the 512 enough or should I get 1TB
as they have been saying, if you can get more RAMM then do, but I have an M1 base with the 512gb. I also have 3 external TB drives currently with 2tb in each, 2 of which are in a RAID 0 that I edit from and they run at 4500-5000 BMDS (backed up hourly to a 4tb WD duo) and 1 as an assets drive and that has a BMDS of around 2500. The total for those 3 enclosures, plus drives giving me 6tb of storage was £700. Now, that is a lot, but less than half the price of the mac internals for roughly the same speed and I can change them out/take them with me. Now of course you probably don't need the RAID 0 speed though it is nice, but what it does is gives you 4tb of work space. I minimise the internal use because I want to prolong its lifespan. Anyway, RAMM will likely be fine but if you have the money getting more helps, storage wise there are plenty of alternatives and at a much lower price than from Apple so if it is RAMM or Storage, get the RAMM and save up for the storage.
I would go with 1TB as the drive space fills up quickly but also more ram is always good and ggproductions makes a good point about external storage. You can always add more should you need.
@@InsideWire I am interested in what everyone else fills up their storage with, this is a genuine question by the way. I mean I hate that Garage band has to have all the sounds on the internal, and plug ins seem to go there, but I only use that if I am trying to create a theme or a sting of some sort. And I have only been back with mac for a year so the whole internal restriction has only been a thing for that long and I try my best to avoid using it for that very reason. It annoys me that Resolve seems to want to keep putting the LUTS on the internal even though the folder Resolve accesses is on an external but I am sure that's down to me, and of course titles, transitions etc, but aside from that I have been pretty much at the same 70-100gb on the internal for the year I have had it.
This is kind of a waste of time. You just show the process of doing benchmarks, and show the results but you have no analysis or comparison. In the end, it’s just Clickbait.
Thanks for benchmarking of your shiny, appley beast for the people of the internet.
😊 you’re welcome
Would you recommend the base or 1TB version?
1tb

Thanks for an Mac Studio M2 Max review!
My pleasure! More to come!
i ordered the mac studio m2 max with 1tb ssd for surfing web and playing team fortress 2. hope it lasts me 3-5 years.
Nice, lets hope so :)

Unfortunately I dont have a 16 MBP M1 for me to test on and compare. I still have the i9 and I can say the M2 Max is quicker than that. 😂
