This was my first bike I bought in 1991. Looked exactly like this. Feels like I just jumped back in time 30 years!

I was out of motorcycling for many years but bought a 1980 CM400T a few months ago. It has 20K miles and has some battle scars but everything works. I did have to remove the carbs, clean the jets and replace a few parts but it runs well now. I got it for errands around town and to go to my son's place and back, 3 miles each way. It is extremely comfortable and fits me well. I'm already looking forward to next spring!

This is the video I was needed. Thinking about buying my first bike, found a Cm 400t, but wasn't entirely sure I like it, until I found this. And this bike looks AMAZING :-)

Dyer404 that was my first bike and a great first bike...I am on bike #6 now. I mostly buy 350 and 360s now, but a nice 400 will cost you less and are still a good looking bike. Thanks.

I just worked out a deal for a 79 CM400T, it’s burgundy with the pinkish colored pin stripes and has 10k miles on her. She’s recently been gone through and she’s really running very nicely.
This is no where near my first bike but I chose to buy it over every other bike because it’s what I was looking for. Anyone can buy a Harley and look exactly like the pack but that’s just not me. I’m not much of a fan of the Harley culture.
I pick the bike up in the morning and I’ll post an update after I’ve ridden it around. I gave $1900 bucks for her by the way, to me that’s a good deal for a fun little bike that is generally pretty bulletproof. I’ll keep this video audience updated.
Sweet bike by the way, that blue is really a nice combination. If I ever paint mine I’ll keep this one in mind.

I bought a bike like this brand new in 1991 same color. Lots of chrome and plenty of power. If I found one like this now I’d buy it in a minute. In Cedar Rapids,Ia.

I bought this motorcycle right out of boot camp. Everyone said that it was too small and no good for the highway. I rode it from Great Lakes to Orlando, to New York, to Montpelier, to Norfolk, to Atlanta, to Birmingham, and all through college. It would do 70 all day long. Other than replacing the chain once and oil changes, never touched it with a wrench.

Terrific condition! Those colors are super sharp as well.
I bought my 80 cm400 around six years ago with less than 4,000 miles on it.
[1st bike, learned on it, continuing it as a daily driver]
Riding it all of the time. It's a super great bike.
Hope whoever bought this kept it at its original form. That bike looks sweet!
Looking forward to getting a bigger Honda soon enough. Really appreciate these bikes though, awesome to share.

i had a honda cm400 when i was in high school (early 80's) and really liked it. i had just evolved from being an off roader and wanted something light (in case i wanted to hit the trails) but something that could handle the freeway and it was good for both. i so much wish i never let that bike go. thanks for the video.

Randy, did you ever ride with a passenger? I'm wondering how this model would do on short (one hour) trips on 55-60 mph speeds on the level and on small hills with 320 pounds of rider & passenger.

    • @randallleehall
      @randallleehall  8 ปีที่แล้ว

sideskraft I did not, but that would be no problem. I take passengers on my 350s an 60s with no issue and they have a far less comfortable set up for a passenger.

No need to keep it on high revs, choke can be halved and closed pretty soon in that healthy state.
