@@luke3017 Oh yeah, mechanicals are so nice for their convenience, and I actually recommend using those on the go. Do you have a favorite you're after? I plan to get a Uni Kurutoga Pipe Slide soon. I also wanna get a clutch pencil.
I really like a good sketchbook I use the mix media one just like the one in this video. I planing to maybe but the needed eraser and maybe the pencils too. 😁
THANK YOU. Exactly what i was looking for. I recently got a 50 pc sketch kit and had no idea what some of the tools were. Especially the pencil extender. Lol i tried to put everything in that....the charcoal, the stumps, etc. So funny. I subbed now. So excited to learn some techniques here. I have done some drawing, but got lucky i think with the outcomes. Time to learn for real👍🙆🏻♀️
My family started gifting me with art kits and supplies as my new favorite Hobbie has become somewhat of a healthy addiction! I was so excited to find out what all those things were actually for 🤭 For a completely green..a total laymen when it comes to art supplies, your vids. are very helpful. I'm 50 years old and felt embarrassed about asking anyone how to use many of the tools my family members spent time and $ providing me with. I'm very blessed with one amazing family. The support has given me even more love for the craft and in return I gift them with sketches and paintings that they absolutely love.
Just about to embark on illustration and sketching as a new hobby, and this was really helpful, thanks! I took art as a GCSE here in England, but even on that course they didn't suggest something as simple as a brush for disposing of detritus.
Absolutely best video out there!!! I was scrolling through hoping for someone explain fast, sharp and clear what the heck all those parts in the pencil set are. And here we go!!!! Thanks .
THANK YOU this is a great video im thinking about a side hustle of drawing anything ppl want me to for money couse im still studying and that money will help me im planning to buy a whole drawing set for this and after checking everything you recomended was there and some other stuff to so this has been a very helpful video and i will watch the rest of the series to improve my drawing to
You're very welcome. Blending stumps last me *very* long, actually. I've used the same one for half a year now, even with minimal cleaning. I like to keep one of the sides "dirty" to use as another marking tool for lighter lines on clean paper.
Question for you iam looking to get into drawing in my 50's and want to draw like mountains, trees, lakes, and nature stuff. So are these good starting tools?
Yes, these supplies work great for landscapes and nature drawings. I might also add a 2mm clutch pencil to your supplies too, since they're more convenient on the go: you don't have to sharpen them, and they'll help you get broader lines more easily due to the thick lead. Try Staedtler's 2mm clutch: amzn.to/3uZrNFK (I believe leads are sold separately but come in a variety grades and colors: amzn.to/3BOkkx3 and amzn.to/3V8Sa6O).
Very well given missing info for me. See, do to a brain injury some time in my past I get STM problems. So things I leave too much time apart from doing ince again I'll forget some crucial basics. I love artistic work from time to time no matter what tho. So, do you provide more 'higher up' info in painting as well?
I'm sorry to hear about your injury but glad this was helpful. I haven't painted in a while, but I'd love to get back into it. Maybe I'll add some videos on this topic in the future.
My pleasure. I've noticed some uniball pens have given me the same problem, but it's been rare. Poscas definitely have a more consistent flow, but I love the opaqueness of a good uniball when it's working properly. 😊
Hey Ibbz. My go-to is Amazon for affordable online supplies, and Ebay can be a good source too. But, I'm not in the UK, and suppliers could be different for you. With that said, I recommend checking out the following list to find some good-quality sketchbooks (I've seen Canson sketchbooks on artdiscount.co.uk/, which is a personal favorite of mine and is in the list of sites): makingamark.blogspot.com/2020/03/a-list-of-uk-based-online-art-suppliers.html
Sure, shoot for a 3" brush of just about any bristle type. This one isn't quite as cheap as the one I picked up at the art store, but it's very similar: amzn.to/31RZyxV
AH YES THE GENERAL GROCEEY LIST FOR A ARTIST :D •Drawing stuff Anyways tysm this also helped because I’m also trying to draw on paper instead of digital and I’m trying to shade❤️❤️💖💞😊 Hope you get to 2k but for a amazing artist like you, you need way more like 18MIL subbies :D Can’t wait for your next video uwu
Oh, cool. I love the feel of drawing on paper. I even use it to start digital illustration projects sometimes, where I'll scan it in after sketching and finish it digitally. Oh, and thank you, as always! 😊
I don't agree.KUM sharpeners like Automatic long point and Masterpiece, are both essential for drawing.Tombow Mono Plastic and Tombow Mono Zero 2.3mm,along with LYRA kneadable eraser, are essential too. Conte a Paris, makes the best paperstamps. Pentel Graphgear 500 (0.5mm and 0.3mm) along with Faber Castell TK 9400 or TK 4600 are the best pencils. For classic sketching,Kohinoor makes the best lead holders and the best Red Chalk! Please, feel free to ask me for other drawing materials.
What's your favorite drawing supply? You all *know* mine is the uni-ball Signo white gel pen. 🧡💛💙
I want to get one of those and may for Christmas but I really love mechanical pencils

@@RTIFEX I usually buy quite a cheap but fairly good quality brand called tian hao for my mechanical pencils, I like the weight distribution a lot
@@hazel7878 Good choices! I've gone through so many of those sketchbooks.

Thanks for teaching how to use the pencil extender :)
Thank you so much!! You did a really great job explaining all of this

Kneaded erasers are "putty erasers" in the UK.
Isn't putty like the clay we use on windows?
Great video, it was very informative.
Thank you for the tutorial it was really helpful

Hi! Any ideas on how to organize all these new tools, what does your set up look like? What would you change? Thanks!
Thank you so much...💜

Thank you very much for this, please can you just list all the items out for easy identification? I'm a beginner and I want to note them down.
How you use these tool looking sketch pens
I just found out how to use the kneaded eraser with this ;-;
Nice!
Me too
Very nice >>>>>> Thank you .
Thanks for a great video, but in my experience, the uniballs flow is unpredictable, and fires quickly , so I use a white Posca pen instead.
