- In the interview to The Wire, Sushant Singh was sharply critical of the reluctance or failure of both the army and the government to regularly and effectively brief the media and the Indian public. Consequently, there is confusion in the reports in different papers about critical matters. For instance, has India got control of all the strategic heights on the south bank of Pangong Lake as the Times of India and Indian Express suggest (3/9) or are Black Top and Helmet Top in Chinese hands as the Business Standard has said (1/9) or are neither India and China in control of Black Top but the advantage is strongly in India’s favour as the Economic Times suggests (2/9)? Indeed, there’s even confusion about whether Black Top and Helmet Top are on the Indian or the Chinese side of the LAC. The Business Standard (1/9) clearly says it’s on the Indian side but Sushant Singh said that he has been told by reliable army sources that they are on the Chinese side.

Agree that leader takes credit and Modi can certainly take the credit for all the set backs India has suffered during the last 6 years...more so because he never lets his cabinet colleagues to do their work in his anxiety that they not over shine him which is costing India dearly. Not sure what diplomacy you are referring to...his style is more of school boyish...evident from the fact that India has poor relations with all its neighbors Nepal included...Even the tiny Bhutan which depends on India for everything has said that it will negotiate with China directly for settling border disputes (...after seeing Indian response in Doklam and Galwan)...Managed to alienate Russia which stood like a rock behind us. He has neither the courage nor the conviction to name China as the aggressor and take on it...A weakness which he attributed to Nehru of which he is guilty now. He accused Congress party of keeping India in slow economic progress but managed to drag India back to near independence era employment rate and GDP. There is 3.5 years left and more is on the way...Keep watching.

Black top and Helmet tops are under Chinese hand and apart from that all other tops in south pangong (gurang hill,reang top) which are at higher elevation than black and helmet tops are under Indian control(at higher elevation Indian army can watch down Chinese activities, same advantage china has at north pangong where they have captured heights of finger 4). It's like face to face situation at south pangong, both army are just 500m apart with their tanks near Spangur gaps(passage between these mountain tops ) near chushul.
Situation is very tense at chushul, little impulsive action from any side can escalate to war . Hoping situation will be controlled through talk as war which is eaiser to say from our home at 25deg. temparature, we cannot imgaine the damage its cost to the nation and families of armymen who are their at -20degree temp.
So be sensible and don't cry for war as anyhow it's always a last option which will be initiated when all other option fails.

Be wise , he knows how to show it off on media and what is to be done on ground. Don't get panicked. It is around 1000 square kilometer- all along the extended borders between China and India. When uninhabited disputed areas are left like this, the neighbors take advantage. India has also captured Siachen Glacier , which Pakistan has not kept guarded, in good faith to India. Recovery of captured land is only possible by force - negotiations and mutual talks are sheer waste of time. Pakistan get fooled by India, that it is dispute between the two countries and both countries will decide by mutual talks. All talks failed, the same will happen with borders meetings between PLA and India.

Thank you for taking up the issue of Galwan Valley incident in this thought full discussion.The bare fact is 1) on the night of 15th-16th June the troops comprising strength of hundred plus of jawans and officers moved towards the Chinese tents in the darkness of night and finding their existence there that colonel asked them to remove and retreat and sensing their refusal to comply with his order he took initiative to destroy it, 2)it is immaterial by which method removal order was givenresulting a bloody close contact clash for which Chinese were prepared and the result is known to every one.3)From my own past experience we follow the thumb rule of the mountainous move only from dawn to dusk and halt for the night to continue the assigned job in the day light of the following day except for night patrolling/recce or for any emergency situation or operation.We,the nation want to know from the bunch of Zee Huzur generals and colonels that what was the compulsion or immediate urgency for that contingent to move in the darkness of night.3).For academic discussion even accepting the presence of Chinese tents there what was urgency to got those removed by force in Robin Hood style without any arms carried by them as that colonel was quite confident that as per the standing and agreed S.O.P. no violent recurpussion will be there and as a result to that they were totally unarmed.It can be very well presumed that when the fellow soldiers were being battered to death and those behind them at safe distances not impulsed to use fire arms to save them from death. Let the entrepreneur spirit run high and reduce controls and shackles of red tape. Manufacture all defence Equipments in India instead of importing them. If you destroy the economy you destroy a nation and that’s what precisely the Govt is doing. Help when help is needed. The Chinese have aggressively modernised their army and the Govt should hit the Chinese where it hurts most. Block all their incoming and outgoing ship in the Indian Ocean. Stop their trade and they will talk. We have an amazing navy. Use it for once.

The following deduction is one possible explanation:
1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation from Red fort on 15 August 2016, mentioned India's intention to free POK and support for Balochistan.
2. China perceived it as a threat to CPEC and started working towards occupying a major part of Ladakh, merging it with Tibet.
3. China struck a secret deal with India for a relatively 'peaceful' execution of their 'secure CPEC' project. For this, President Xi Jinping came over to India in October 2016, visiting mamallapuram, tamil nadu, ostensibly showing interest in India's historical heritage.
4. During the negotiations for this secret deal, China placed two options in front of India, after explaining their need to secure the CPEC.
A. War, in which China will aim to occupy a lot of territory across the entire length of LAC. Entire Arunachal Pradesh will come under Chinese occupation.
B. Pretence of military confrontation, wherein Indian ruling government's electoral politics requirements shall be catered to and China will slowly keep creeping forward, accomplishing their target in a year or so, while keeping low profile in press. India's 'achievements' in giving a 'befitting reply' to China shall be exaggerated & glorified. China will 'co-operate' by acting 'hurt' at Indian Army's aggressiveness & cruelty and shall keep issuing such statements to their press. All this was with ONE CAVEAT: Indian troops shall be strictly prohibited from opening fire. All combat shall be without the use of firearms of any kind.
India opted for the second option.

Rather than securing few hundred sq km area in Ladakh, much bigger challenge has been facing India ever since 1947. It is to convert LAC into LOC and mark it on the maps with mutual agreement. China has been refusing to do so. The ONLY way to convince China that it ought to be done is to challenge China by inflicting pain on it by pressing on its pain points which are Tibet, Taiwan, Xinjiang, Hongkong and Inner Mongolia.
Till such time that India remains silent on these five topics, India is officially accepting China's military superiority, is officially signalling that it does not intend to challenge China militarily and is willing to play the role of a second fiddle in regional politics.

1962 debacle i . e . Indo - China war was a result of our interference in the internal matters of China i . e .
mingling with Dalai Lama in the autonomous Tibet region which culminated into allowing Indian soil as Tibetan Govt in exile .
Even after paying heavy price in 1962, we have not stopped our anti China posture & 2020 we have allowed our territory to be used for gorilla warfare by Tibetan mercenaries. This seems to be replica of what Pakistan doing to us, same thing we are doing to China.

The second point is dubious.
