I'm from Jamaica and remember my grandmother making it on an open fire outside. Thought of her so spontaneously checked TH-cam as I didn't remember how long to let it sit. Chose your video amongst others since you're also from the Caribbean. Lovely way of explaining.
Thank you for this video. I am in the process of making some. I’m letting it sit overnight as we speak and hopefully get some coconut oil tomorrow. I’m excited! ❤
I am originally from SEA and this is what we had seen what our grandma did as a home made coconut oil. But she used a very low heat and it took hour. The solid part that came out was used in rice like mayonnaise. Thank you.
I like your method for getting the milk out rather than the nut bags...I have sieves and mixing bowls...Wish me luck when coconut comes available again here in Alaska
Thank you! My husband is at the store getting coconuts so I can make some for him. We use it daily and it's so expensive. I'm like I saw a video on making our own. He's all "I'm going to the store" 😂❤
Starting tomorrow I'm going to do this recipe for my coconut oil. Fresh coconut are really cheap in Malaysia. Thank you for uploading this video. Much love to you. 😍
Thank you so much for posting this. I have a skin condition and just overall extremely sensitive skin (as a kid belts gave me rashes bc they touched my skin, bad) & feel like most coconut oils are not pure. Now to make it myself, thank you ❤❤❤❤
love you racquel. you're so kind and such a pure soul. thanks a lot for sharing this amazing simple procedure of extracting virgin coconut oil at home. No need to waste money buying it at exorbitant prices. can you tell Me how much yield you had for 5 coconuts?
The process upto the heating is good. However once you started to cook the coconut cream the product oil is NOT VIRGIN OIL. IT WENT THROUGH HEATING PROCESS! PURE VIRGIN OIL IS SCOOPED FROM THE FERMENTED SOLUTION AND strained and bottled. Aired out for couple days to eveporate water it may have then bottle. Pure virgin oil is colourless and bubble free. Thank for this.
Awesome vlog The word "virgin" indicates that the coconut have been pressed to extract the oil; no heat or chemicals have been used during the extraction process, and the oil is pure and unrefined..... So you can say it is organic coconut oil but not virgin coconut oil....
Thank you for the video but mine did not go all the way down....maybe water was in it when I just started 😢...I only got a small amount of oil...going to do it again
Thanks so much for this video! It's perfect. Question: I know what to do with coconut water, milk, and oil, but what do you do with the leftover curd after extracting the oil from it? Does it have a use for food, fuel, etc or must it go to waste?
You are welcome Sarah 😊 But are you asking about the leftovers curd that was cooked? Or the curd that was left after skimming the Cold Press Oil ? The curd that was left after cooking could be eaten, it very delicious 🤤
Excellent video. Why do you use a plastic utensil to stir the hot coconut oil? That does not look safe. My mom and granny always tell me to use a wooden or stainless steel utensil.
Thanks so much for your explanation I will try it one more question after filtering it are we going to leave it for a day or cook it immediately thanks
When you are done filtering the cream that was separated from the water after sitting overnight, yes cook right away. If you then allow that said cream to sit for another day, then it becomes cold press coconut oil. Here is a video on how to extract cold press coconut oil without cooking. th-cam.com/video/FOSigi1JzU0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so very much . Your videos are fantastic, so well explained and easy to follow ! I have one question , I live in the UK and it is not always easy to find fresh spinach . I know that kale may be substituted but can I use tinned callaloo with good results?
Hi Cecile, thank you 😊 Actually yes! I have tried tinned Callaloo and I was surprised of the results. It was good but because it’s already cooked, try not to overcook
Great video try to make as much food naturally as I can. Can coconut oil be made from coconuts that a young coconuts I see you used dry coconuts will it still work
The coconut has to be dry or semi dry in order to produce coconut oil, the young ones are yet to form the nut. When the coconut is young, the nut is more of a jelly rather than a nut.
Just dry cocunat then put it in grinder and add needed amount of water, then filter oil after grinding in mixy. Heating will make the oil into saturated fat wich is not good for the body.

I just scoop some out andset it aside them about to put d husk on d fire. The virgin one will just air out and bottle
Virgin oil means no addictive or preservative, not the processing method.
Wouldn't that be Extra Virgin?
Thanks I'm going to make some for my body butters.
Thnxs à lot I will make it there are many coconut at my place
Excellent. Loved watching the lovely video 👍👍

Amazing!!!. Where am from it's alot of coconuts I have to try. But where do you keep the milk overnight to settle? Fridge or counter top?
Hi Monique, thanks 😊
On the counter top, in the fridge is fine as well.

Is it warm , hot or cold water do we use in blending
Room temperature water
Is this mct oil as well

Yes you can
Hi I’m just watching this video do I let sit the coconut milk outside the fridge ? For the 12 hrs ? Or so thank u
Yes outside of the fridge
@@RacquelsCaribbeanCuisine I did and it didn’t get solid, was water after even 24 hrs nothing was solid I followed every step but didn’t work for me 😥

Yes
Super

CORRECT! ONCE heated the product is no longer VIRGIN...
What if I don't have a fridge how would I solidify the custard to fry it into oil
Just skim the custard and cook, doesn’t need to get solid.
Can it sit on the counter and if yes for how long
Yes, for months
What’s the point of cooking it at high heat if nothing « virgin » remains afterwards. Cant be used for cold pressed oil purposes.
Cold Press Coconut Oil

Can it be used as Hair Oil?
Yes, hair, skin, cooking…. the whole works
I don't have a work refrigerator, what do i do, can I continue the process without refrigeration
You sure can
