  • Wish I could've shown you guys the building while it was still intact, or that I could've at least found more old photos! SO much more to say about that place, but maybe in another video sometime...It would've been a five hour long video if I'd tried to tell everything at once!

When i was a kid i received a Ray Stevens LP album, The Best of Ray Stevens. It had songs like Harry the Harry Ape. Speed Ball (the wild motorcyclist), Jeremiah Peabody's Poly Unsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green And Purple Pills. and Ahab the Arab. I wore that album out playing it so many times. That's cool you got to work there. He is a brilliant singer songwriter. Thanks for posting.

@@inferioradventurechannel i just noticed searching for Speedball on TH-cam many versions are sped way up and sound horrible, i guess to avoid copyrights. But there are some decent versions yet i found.

After searching for Speedball i noticed a lot of the versions are sped way up, to avoid copywriters i guess, but some are good. i literally hadn't listened to that song in decades, lol

I'm a huge fan of Ray Stevens.. been a fan for well over 30 years.. I didn't get down to see his theatre performances in Branson during his time there, however, it's too far to drive. He was there for five seasons (1991, 1992, 1993, 2004, and 2005). During his hiatus from Branson (1993-2003) a show called 'Country Tonite' occupied his theatre before he returned in 2004. Ray sold the theatre to RFD-TV in 2006 or 2007. Ray's been performing at his CabaRay showroom west of downtown Nashville for several years. He opened it in 2018. He's in his final season of performances there. It's not a theater, though. It has more of an intimate setting like a dinner theater.. dinner is optional there prior to his concert and it's a once a week performance rather than the 2 shows a day, 6 days a week schedule of the Branson years.

I didn't get to see him during his first time at the theatre here but it was wonderful getting to see the show so many times during those two years he was back!

Ray's brother, John, passed away a few years ago. He died of injuries suffered during a fall. At the time of the accident in 2020 he was living in a tropical island country. Ray's wife of 60+ years passed away on New Year's Eve a couple of years ago. I make mention of those things in case there are those who know of Ray and his songs but don't follow his career as close as I do.

I hadn't heard about John passing away...That's so sad; I hung out with him many a time during the shows, & he was an amazing person!!!
